The Battle was Real, The Cost was Great, and The Victory was Complete

Beware of the Crowd

Beware of the crowd.

One moment they cry, “Hosanna in the highest!”

“And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David…” (Matthew 21:9, KJV)

And the next—when the battle comes—where are they?

Gethsemane: The Place of Pressing

The disciples could not stay awake in Gethsemane.

“Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane… and saith… Tarry ye here, and watch with me.” (Matthew 26:36, 38, KJV)

Gethsemane means “oil press.” It is the place of crushing—the place where the great arena of agony (agonia) unfolds.

But the deepest place of battle was not at the entrance of the garden, where eight disciples remained. No—the battle pressed further in.

Jesus took Peter, James, and John deeper still.

“And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy.” (Matthew 26:37, KJV)

They were called to watch and pray—but they slept.

“What, could ye not watch with me one hour?” (Matthew 26:40, KJV)

Meanwhile, Jesus stood alone in the place of agony:

“My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death…” (Matthew 26:38, KJV)

The Battle in the Garden

Satan sought to stop Him—to keep Him from the cross, from redemption, from Gabbatha, from Golgotha, from the very will of God.

“O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.” (Matthew 26:39, KJV)

Satan still seeks to keep us from God’s will today.

The first Adam failed in a garden.

“And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.” (Genesis 2:15, KJV)

Yet when the serpent questioned God’s Word, Adam was silent.

“Yea, hath God said…?” (Genesis 3:1, KJV)

The Second Adam Prevails

But now, in another garden, the second Adam would not fail.

“For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.” (1 Corinthians 15:22, KJV)

Jesus would accomplish the will of the Father.

“Nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.” (Matthew 26:39, KJV)

Where Adam fell, Christ stood.

Gabbatha: The Place of Judgment

From Gethsemane, the path leads to Gabbatha—the place of trial, testing, and judgment.

“When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus forth, and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called… Gabbatha.” (John 19:13, KJV)

There, it appeared that Jesus was on trial.

But in truth, the government stood judged.

Pilate attempted to wash his hands of responsibility:

“I am innocent of the blood of this just person…” (Matthew 27:24, KJV)

Yet the One before him was the true Judge of all.

Golgotha: The Place of Victory

And then—Golgotha.

“And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a place of a skull…” (Matthew 27:33, KJV)

There, Jesus won the victory.

He paid the price for the sins of the world—for every nation, every ruler, every soul.

“Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree…” (1 Peter 2:24, KJV)

At the cross, He declared the love of God:

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8, KJV)

He demonstrated the holiness of God and satisfied the judgment of God—for all:

“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23, KJV)

For whosoever will—and whosoever will not:

“And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.” (Revelation 22:17, KJV)

Forsaken, Yet Faithful

Yet in that moment of fulfillment, Scripture records a sobering truth:

“But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.” (Matthew 26:56, KJV)

The crowd was gone.
The disciples fled.

But Jesus remained faithful.

The Finished Work

From Gethsemane…
to Gabbatha…
to Golgotha…

The battle was real.
The cost was great.
The victory was complete.

“It is finished…” (John 19:30, KJV)

Where Sin Met the Sinless Savior

They Crucified Him

In Luke 23:33 we read, simply and solemnly, “They crucified Him.”

Scripture declares that God is no respecter of persons, and that is true. Yet some also say He is no respecter of places—and there they err. For on this earth there is one spot that surpasses all others in significance to the heart of God. It lies just outside the ancient walls of Jerusalem, a place called Calvary.

No matter which Gospel you read—Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John—they all take you to the same destination: Golgotha, the Place of the Skull. In the mind’s eye, we are transported to the crest of that lonely hill, a place long associated with blood, death, and the end of broken lives.

Here the horror and the glory of six thousand years of human history converged. Hate and love reached their fullest expression at the same moment. Sin rose to its darkest height, while Heaven prepared an altar. The place of execution became the place of sacrifice, and the Lamb of God was laid upon it for sinners.

The Central Cross

As we ascend that hill in our thoughts, a hostile and bloodthirsty crowd surrounds us. Before us stand three wooden crosses, one towering in the center—prominent against a darkened sky. A sense of awe and dread overtakes the soul, for that is His cross.

Here dies the most perfect man who ever lived. He challenged His accusers, “Which of you convinceth me of sin?”—a question never answered. His lips spoke the greatest truths mankind has ever heard. More lives were healed by His words and touch than by any physician. The blind saw. The deaf heard. The lame walked. The dead lived again at His command.

Soldiers sent to arrest Him returned empty‑handed, saying only, “Never man spake like this man.” His judge declared, “I find no fault in Him.” And yet here He hangs—mangled, mocked, and crucified.

Amid the clamor of cruel voices, one voice rises above the rest:
“Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.”

Indeed, God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself.

The Mystery of the Incarnation

The incarnation is a profound mystery—one we cannot fully explain, yet must wholeheartedly believe. He who thirsted could still the sea. He who hungered fed multitudes. Jesus existed before His mother; Mary did not give birth to His personality, but to a body prepared for Him. As Hebrews 10:5 declares, “A body hast thou prepared for me.”

He helped create the air His mother breathed, the earth on which she walked, the star that shone at His birth. He formed the trees that became His cradle—and later, His cross.

“When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph… she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.” (Matthew 1:18)

What unfathomable depth—God resting in a manger, fleeing to Egypt, walking dusty roads, laboring with calloused hands, sweating blood in Gethsemane, and bearing the lash in Pilate’s hall.

The One who cried, “It is finished,” was none other than incarnate God , dying that men might be saved.

Why He Came

Some say His teachings were His greatest legacy, and indeed they surpass all others. If practiced universally, wars would end and peace would reign. Yet teaching alone was not His mission.

Others point to His example—perfect, selfless, pure—and rightly so. Still, that was not His primary purpose.

Still others point to His works of mercy and healing. These were wondrous, yet incidental to His reason for coming.

So why did He come?

He came to die.

John the Baptist, greatest of prophets, once saw Jesus approaching and declared, “He must increase, but I must decrease.” He could have called Him Messiah, Redeemer, Prince of Peace—but instead cried,
“Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”

The shadow of the cross followed Jesus all His days.

The Cup He Drank

Man is sinful beyond dispute. Scripture and history testify alike. From Eden onward, humanity has left a trail of guilt. “There is not a just man upon the earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.” And with man’s sin stands God’s perfect holiness. Thus arose the necessity of atonement.

That bitter cup Christ drank held every vile sin mankind has known—violence, cruelty, lust, betrayal, hatred, bloodshed. All was poured into it.

Alone in Gethsemane, while His friends slept, He prayed in agony until His sweat fell like drops of blood. He cried, “Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless not my will, but thine be done.”

This was not fear—it was holiness recoiling from sin. Jesus was sinless, yet was about to be made sin for us.

He drank the cup—every drop.

The Silence and the Darkness

He was arrested, mocked, beaten, crowned with thorns, and scourged. He answered nothing. Why add to perfection? The prophets had already spoken:

“He was wounded for our transgressions… by his stripes we are healed.”

Pilate’s wife warned. The governor questioned. A centurion later declared, “Truly this was the Son of God.” Yet still, they crucified Him.

The cross was no ornament. It was the cruelest instrument of death known to man. Isaiah foretold it:
“His visage was so marred more than any man.”

When sin reached its climax and Christ cried, “My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?” the sun itself withdrew. At noon, darkness fell. Creation recoiled at the sight of its Creator bearing sin.

The Finished Work

How much He suffered we cannot measure. This we know: He drank the cup, conquered death, led captivity captive, rose in victory, and ascended to the Father’s right hand.

There He reigns—King of Kings and Lord of Lords. The keys of death and hell are His. Eternal life rests in His hand.

He is man’s only Savior.

Reflecting on Christ’s Finished Work and the Hope of His Resurrection

Prayer Meeting at the Cross

Scripture tells us:

“And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots. And sitting down they watched him there.”
— Matthew 27:35–36

Imagine standing at the foot of the cross… watching the soldiers divide His garments, the crowd murmur, the sky darken—and then hearing Jesus cry out, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” (My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?).

What a moment. What a cost.

On that Wednesday “victory prayer meeting,” we remember Jesus’ own declaration from the cross: “It is finished.” He bowed His head not in defeat, but in worship, having fully completed the Father’s will.

A World in Need of Hope

Every day, tens of thousands of souls step into eternity:

China : around 30,000 deaths per day
India : over 28,000 per day
United States : more than 8,200 per day

With a global population estimated at over 7.7 billion people, how do we even begin to count such multitudes? And yet Scripture is clear:

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
— Romans 3:23

Every one of these precious souls needs hope. They need good news. They need the saving message of the risen Christ ..

The Cornerstone of Our Faith

Evangelist and pastor William Edward Biederwolf once said:

“Everything depends on the resurrection of Jesus Christ. That's the cornerstone. The cornerstone upon which the whole superstructure of Christianity rests.”

Without the resurrection, there is no gospel. But He did rise , and because He lives, the message of salvation stands firm:

His death paid the price
His burial fulfilled prophecy
His resurrection gives eternal hope

This is the heartbeat of our faith and the song of the redeemed.

Hallelujah—He Lives!

The grave could not hold Him. Death could not defeat Him.
Jesus lives—and because He lives, we have life and hope forevermore.

Hallelujah! He lives! He lives!

Infallible Proofs on Sunday

The voice of one crying in the wilderness. That prophecy—spoken in Isaiah 40—was fulfilled 700 years later when John the Baptist appeared preaching, “Prepare ye the way of the LORD.” Prophecy upon prophecy was fulfilled in Jesus Christ.

Over the years, many powerful sermons and recitations have captured the drama of the crucifixion and resurrection. One famous sermon is “It’s Friday, but Sunday’s Coming” by S. M. Lockridge. While its dramatization is memorable, let’s look carefully at what Scripture actually says about the timing of Christ’s death and resurrection.

What Day Was Jesus Crucified?

Mark 15:42 states that Jesus was crucified on “the day before the sabbath.” But was that sabbath Saturday?

The Jews observed annual sabbaths in addition to the weekly Saturday sabbath.

During Passover week, the first day—the 15th of Nisan—was considered a sabbath no matter what day of the week it fell on.

You can confirm this in:

Exodus 12:16
Leviticus 23:7
Numbers 28:16–18

That particular year, the 15th of Nisan (the Passover sabbath) fell on Thursday.

John 19:14 tells us that Jesus was crucified on “the preparation of the Passover,” meaning the day before the Thursday Passover sabbath — which places the crucifixion on Wednesday.

John also tells us Jesus ate the Passover meal with His disciples the evening before, fulfilling the picture of Jesus Himself as the Passover Lamb.

At the very hour the Passover lambs were being slain on the 14th of Nisan, Jesus—
The Lamb of God,
The fulfillment of prophecy,
The One foreshadowed in Exodus 12:6—
was offered up for our salvation.

Three Days and Three Nights

Jesus died Wednesday near sunset.

Exactly 72 hours later—three days and three nights—He rose again just before dawn on Sunday, before the women arrived.

This perfectly aligns with Matthew 12:40, the sign of Jonah.

Even the two disciples traveling to Emmaus recognized the timeline:

“Today is the third day since these things were done.”
— Luke 24:21

They spoke those words on Sunday, and they referenced:

Thursday (1 day),
Friday (2 days),
Saturday (3 days),
with Sunday morning being the dawning of resurrection victory.

He Is Risen — SON‑Day Is Coming

Jesus was crucified.
Jesus was buried.
And Jesus rose on Sunday — S‑O‑N‑day.

The resurrection is not just an event.
It is the cornerstone of our faith, the infallible proof that:

Christ fulfilled prophecy,
conquered death,
paid the price for sin,
and lives forevermore.

SON‑day is coming.
And because He lives, we have hope.

Victory in the Risen Christ

Cradle, Cross, and Crown

Faith in the God of the impossible.
Faith in the God who cannot fail.
Faith in the God who will never leave us nor forsake us.
Faith in the God who cannot lie.

Believer, keep your feet in the way of God ,
your face in the will of God ,
your fear in the wisdom of God ,
and your faith in the Word of God.

From the incarnate Word,
to the inscribed Word,
to the incomparable Word of God.

It is the inspired, inerrant, infallible, and incorruptible Word —
and it reveals Jesus Christ from beginning to end.

Questions to Consider:

Who asked the questions?
Were they believing?
Who shall roll away the stone?
Did the disciples look for a living, risen Christ?

Answers:

The disciples asked.
Their worry was needless — the Lord had already promised.
A great stone… but an even greater miracle.
God cannot lie. Jesus lives. He is risen!

What victory we have today in Jesus Christ!

Victory Over Darkness

No matter the demons of hell,
no matter the salt, the darkness, or the weight of sin —
we have victory in our risen Lord.

“Why seek ye the living among the dead?”

If you search in this world for hope, you are searching among dead things.
But we serve a risen and soon‑returning Savior —
Jesus Christ, the Lord.

The atoning blood of Jesus is the scarlet thread woven through every page of Scripture.

Cut the Bible anywhere, and it bleeds the crimson truth of redemption.

Jesus saves.
Jesus lives.
Come and see.
Go and tell.
Jesus is risen.

The Book, the Blood and the Blessed Hope

God’s Law. God’s Love. God’s Way.

Jesus summed up the entire law in two powerful commandments:

“Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
This is the first and great commandment.
And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”
— Matthew 22:37–40

And Revelation reminds us of the blessing attached to obedience:

“Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life…”
— Revelation 22:14

King David declared the beauty and power of God’s law:

“The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul… making wise the simple.”
— Psalm 19:7

Even in more recent history, leaders have recognized the grounding force of God’s moral law. Herbert Hoover spoke directly about the Ten Commandments in a September 17, 1935 address on the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. In this speech, he emphasized that America's foundational liberties were obvious and self‑evident — “as clear as the Ten Commandments.”

How true that rings in our present society.

Though I seldom reference Hollywood, this example is worth noting. The profits from the classic film The Ten Commandments were dedicated to philanthropic causes. Director Cecil B. DeMille said: “We cannot break the Ten Commandments. We can only break ourselves against them—or else, by keeping them, rise through them to the fullness of freedom under God.” In the same speech DeMille argues that law is not the opposite of liberty and that God’s commandments “keep [man] free.” DeMille partnered with/encouraged the Fraternal Order of Eagles (FOE), whose Ten Commandments monument campaign—begun in the 1950s—was explicitly connected to combating juvenile delinquency.

Charles Haddon Spurgeon—the “Prince of Preachers”—spoke of God’s law with profound reverence:
“There is not a commandment too many; there is not one too few; but it is so incomparable, that its perfection is a proof of its divinity.”

Moses, the great lawgiver, reminded Israel:

“The LORD commanded us… for our good always, that he might preserve us alive.”
— Deuteronomy 6:24

And Jesus Himself made it unmistakably clear:

“If ye love me, keep my commandments.”
— John 14:15

Some might even ask, Who Is This Jesus?

Some may still ask: Who is this God?

He is the great God and our Savior.
He is THE WAY, friend. THE TRUTH. THE LIFE.
Demons tremble at His name.
He is Creator, Sustainer, Redeemer, Judge, and Justifier.
He is omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent—the Alpha and the Omega.

The cross of Christ is the great magnet that draws heaven and earth together, sending a divine current through the story of Scripture until both Testaments sing the same song of redemption.

Hallelujah!

Through the ages—past, present, and future—the righteous, risen, redeeming truth of Jesus stands unshaken.

Jesus saves. Jesus is Lord.

How George Washington’s Character, Convictions, and Faith Still Speak Today

I’ve shared this story before, but it bears repeating. I once walked into a North Carolina university bookstore and flipped through a history textbook used in their classes. What I found stunned me. The book contained more information on Marilyn Monroe and Marilyn Manson than on George Washington.

Think about that for a moment.

As Commander‑in‑Chief of the Continental Army beginning July 4, 1775, George Washington issued orders prohibiting his soldiers from engaging in profane cursing, swearing, drunkenness, and other sinful conduct. He believed leadership required moral discipline—and he expected it of the men who fought for America’s future.

If President Washington could see our nation’s capital today, he would be outraged at the corruption, betrayal, and immorality that too often mark our government. He would certainly reject the modern, revisionist historians who erase God’s providence and the unmistakable supernatural intervention seen throughout the War for Independence.

Washington once wrote:

“The hand of Providence has been so conspicuous in all this [the course of the war] that he must be worse than an infidel that lacks faith, and more wicked, that has not gratitude enough to acknowledge his obligations…”

Amen! Preach on, President Washington.

Will we stand as he did? Will we honor the example of great presidents like George Washington?

Washington stood in aptitude, appearance, and attitude. He modeled character worth imitating.

At only seventeen, he became a surveyor for Culpeper County, Virginia. He later served as a leader in the Virginia militia, then held a seat in the House of Burgesses. Presidents Day—established in 1885 to honor his birthday—was once a national reminder of his significance. Today, the meaning of that holiday has all but disappeared.

His intelligence was unmatched. Standing over six feet tall, he carried himself with dignity, strength, and confidence. His presence alone inspired trust and loyalty.

One story, recorded by M. L. Weems in The Life of George Washington, reveals much about Washington’s character. Quaker Isaac Potts once walked through the woods near Valley Forge and overheard a voice fervently praying. As he approached, he found the Commander‑in‑Chief himself on his knees before God. Potts later ran home and exclaimed to his wife:

“Sarah! My dear Sarah! All’s well! George Washington will yet prevail!”

Washington prevailed because he possessed aptitude, intellect, dignity, and a humble attitude of dependence on God. He prayed—and God answered. We are beneficiaries of those prayers and that character.

Was he perfect? Of course not. But I believe George Washington served a perfect Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. And still today, we declare: In God We Trust.

May God raise up men, women, and young people who will study history, understand Scripture, and boldly stand for truth. People who will let their voice, their vote, and their victory in Christ be seen and heard.

As Romans 13:11 reminds us:

“And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.”

Amen and hallelujah! We are nearing the finish line—victory day is approaching.

Are we experiencing a famine?

In this blog, we explore a timeless truth: sin isn’t confined to our past, present, or future—it remains a spiritual reality that shapes every generation. Drawing from the book of Amos, we uncover the prophet’s urgent warning about what happens when people drift from God’s truth. For nearly 2,000 years, the world experienced a famine of Scriptural teaching, and Amos’ message echoes through that silence: rejecting God’s Word carries real and lasting consequences.

Together, we examine how taking a “preference-based” approach to faith leads to instability—like building life on sinking sand. It produces generations hungry for truth but unable to find it. Yet the hope of Amos’ message remains: restoration begins with honest acknowledgment, genuine repentance, and a turning away from sin.

Keep reading along as we journey through Scripture, confront the realities of spiritual famine, and discover the path back to solid ground.

There is a famine in our land today—not a famine of preference, presumption, or pity, but a famine of truth.

Let’s be honest with ourselves for a moment:

��Have you ever lied?
��Have you ever stolen?
��Have you ever entertained a sinful thought?
��Have you ever failed to do the good you knew you should have done?

Notice the words “done,” “should have,” “in the past.”

We like to talk about sin as if it only exists back there—behind us—something we’ve “moved on” from.

“Oh, that sin is in the past.”
“Oh, that sin? That’s your sin. Their sin. Not mine.”
“It’s not sin to me.”

But the truth is this: sin is sin—past, present, or future. And all sin is against the holy God and righteous Judge of the universe.

Amos 8:11–14 gives a sobering warning:

11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:
12 And they shall wander from sea to sea… to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.
13 In that day shall the fair virgins and young men faint for thirst.
14 They that swear by the sin of Samaria… even they shall fall, and never rise up again.

One commentator calls this “an amazing truth.” "In the land where God was revealed, in the land where his living Word was incarnate, there ensued a famine of scriptural teaching for almost 2,000 years." And in many ways, that famine lingers even today.

Israel’s sin was rooted in idolatry—the sin of Samaria.
Their sin was unredeemed, because it was unrepented.
Their sin was rejection of God’s truth.
They sinned, they fell, and they did not rise.

Look again at verse 12:

They shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.

Why?
Because there is a famine in the land.

I once had a dear preacher friend who reduced biblical conviction to preference—he said he preferred the King James Bible. But preference will not hold the line for the next generation. Preference cannot uphold truth. Preference produces a generation that runs to and fro, looking for truth but unable to find it.

Why?
Because preference is sinking sand.
Because unconfessed, unrepented sin blinds the heart.
Because a famine of hearing the Word arises when conviction is replaced by convenience.

As long as we deny our sin and refuse repentance, the famine will deepen. But when we return to God’s truth—fully, humbly, without preference or excuses—He restores, He revives, and He ends the famine.

Holocaust Remembrance Day

Honoring Holocaust Remembrance Day

January 27 marks the 1945 liberation of Auschwitz and Birkenau. We must remember the Jews and victims of the Holocaust. This International Holocaust Remembrance Day is critical. It is difficult to believe the growing anti-Semitism in the United States. Keep in mind, hostiles are in our public schools (government-run indoctrination centers) daily teaching impressionable, young, vulnerable minds revisionist history lies. From children to college-age, an evoluting , God-denying, sodomite agenda is being perpetrated on this generation and culture.

Holocaust Remembrance Day—a time to honor the six million Jewish lives lost, remember the resilience of the Jewish people, and acknowledge the ongoing reality of antisemitism in America. Our world is filled with confusion, division, and moral uncertainty, but we can seek a Biblical perspective to better understand good and evil. Remembering the past isn’t just an act of history; it’s a guide for how we live today—what we stand for, what we stand against, and a reason for how we anchor ourselves in Biblical truth.

Evil is taught as good and good is said to be evil. Was George Washington good but King George evil? Was the Declaration of Independence good but all men created equal evil? Was Robert E. Lee and Jefferson Davis good but Lincoln and Grant evil? Are Trump and Vance good and Xi Jinping, Putin, and Sheinbaum evil? Are Republicans good and Democrats evil? Are compassion, open borders, and good yet closed borders, deportation and arrest evil? Are LGBTQ and “born that way” and “trans-have-rights” good but God created he him male and female evil? There are Christians in Bible-believing churches today across the United States that wrestle with these questions. If you get away from thus saith the Lord and move from God's inspired, infallible, inerrant, pure, powerful, preserved Word, the King James Bible, you are apt to call evil good and good evil.

If you turn from the Masoretic Textus Receptus to modernist, critical text Bibles, it is inevitable that your doctrine, faith and practice is corrupt. Evil communication corrupts good. Think about those questions listed previously.

The only author and authority for such issues is God Almighty. Issues such as academics, abortion, atheism, evolution, alcohol, drugs, addictions, abominations, LGBTQ and trans-wokeism are sorely lacking but desperately requiring Authority. Our Authority on these issues, our absolutes and anchor for our soul must be God's Authority. God has the answers we need.

International Holocaust Remembrance Day teaches important lessons. Genesis 12:3 tells us,” And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.” God's promises are true. Romans 1:16 says, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.”

If we do not get it right on the Book and receive Authority from the book, you will not discern both good and evil. Take time to remember, reflect, and look to Scripture for clarity, wisdom, and hope in a complicated time.

Remember, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.“ Romans 10:17.

What we witnessed from Venezuela...

For more than 50 years, The Voice in the Wilderness has partnered with churches and missionaries across Venezuela. From the deep jungle to the modern city, we have come alongside the pastor with preaching, teaching and support. In the late 1990s, Bro. Ronnie traveled into the very jungle where Missionary Sophie Muller once walked, opening the door of Indigenous tribes to the Gospel. That visit included distributing Bibles in four tribal languages. Not long afterward, Hugo Chávez expelled all missionaries from the jungle, ending our contact with many of our Christian brethren.

A few years later, the Lillys joined the work of The Voice in the Wilderness. Their first trip took them to Caracas, where they taught English as a second language to college students, church members, and the surrounding community. On that trip, they met a young man recently returned from Peru, trained in sign language and burdened to start a church in La Guaira, a coastal town on the Caribbean Sea about 45 minutes from Caracas.

From that point on, whenever we flew into Caracas, Pastor R—the “angel of La Guaira”—as we called him, was graciously there to meet us at the airport and guide us to the hotel where his church gathered. When the country closed again under Maduro, we continued support through periodic Scripture and aid shipments to him. Many of you have sacrificially given so that he and other pastors could receive John and Romans booklets with the specialized “Jesus Loves Venezuela” cover.

Several years ago, Pastor R was invited to the National Guard training center in La Guaira. He faithfully carried the John and Romans booklets we sent and taught the soldiers from the Gospel of John, explaining how they too could come to Christ.

With recent events in Venezuela, La Guaira—basically unheard of by most — made national news as one of the locations targeted during the U.S. military operation to capture Nicolás Maduro. By God’s grace, Pastor R and his family are safe, though quite rattled by the bombs. In fact, the very outpost of which he distributed the John and Romans booklets was targeted. The nation remains in turmoil, and many pastors in other regions still do not fully understand what has taken place. Their “normal” has consisted of blackouts, shortages, rations, complete economic collapse, fraud, blackmail, medical malpractice and more. Some have no knowledge of the 15 year indictment of Maduro for drug-trafficking and worse.

For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: (Romans 1:26)

Scripture is clear. Our loving, long-suffering Lord went to eternal, extreme effort in the gift of his precious Son, ...that whosoever believeth in [Jesus] should not perish, [that's hell,] but have everlasting life. (John 3:16b)

Renee Good (killed by ICE in an altercation on January 7, 2026 ) and her “wife” and their practice living as a sodomite is rebellion. It is sin against God. It is sin against God's design. God commands the wicked to turn from their wicked way and live - not die and go to Hell, a place of eternal punishment. If Renee Good did not repent of her sin and by faith received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, then, just after that officer's bullet ripped life out of her brain, she lifted up her eyes in Hell.

Reader - understand this carefully. I am a mortal and I am not preaching a person into Heaven or preaching a person into Hell. I am warning that person is condemned by their disbelief and rejection of the forgiveness of Almighty God through his Son, Jesus Christ. No, I am not condemning a person.

Schools, teachers and parents have been pressured to capitulate to ideologies contrary to biological reality, let alone biblical truth. Who is bold and courageous enough to talk about sin and Satan? They are indoctrinating children into doctrines of devils. This terrible event in Minnesota exposes the Devil's holocaust of indoctrination - child abuse, daycares, and sodomite indoctrination. Sodomites, socialist CCPs, drug cartels, Antifa, BLM, anarchists, and abortion groups are joined at the heart with Satan, and their judgment, apart from a complete repentance of their sins, will be according to God's Word - eternal Hellfire.

Christmas Diagnosis

Dr. Luke gave us a clear message and Phillips Brooks gave it to us in song.

The best diagnosis of Christmas was given by a doctor long ago. The doctor is Luke. His diagnosis is found in the second chapter of his inspired record, known to us as the Gospel according to Luke. In verse eleven, we have the message:

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour which is Christ the Lord.

Note how clear is the doctor's diagnosis:

"Unto you" - that is Personal

"This day" - that is Present

"A Saviour" - that is Precious

We must remember, there is all the difference in the world between Christmas and Christ. Millions make a holiday over Christmas, and often only a mockery over Christ. Too often, Christ is cruelly crowded out of the special day which is intended as a day to remember Him. Holiness is hidden underneath a pile of holly. The wreath is hung higher than the Cross, and worst of all, the Precious Saviour all too often is supplanted by Santa Claus.

But without Christ, there can be no true Christmas. Without Him there is nothing about which to sing, or anything over which to rejoice. Outward merriment, too, often becomes inward mockery to the starved soul. It is time for all to turn back to the old prescription of Doctor Luke. Let us meditate upon his words:

Unto you ...

This is a personal message, and there should be no evasion or denial. What have you done with the Lord Jesus Christ? Have you received Him? Romans 10:13 says: For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Salvation is personal. It is a gift to you.

This day...

Yes, this very moment, God is offering you the greatest Christmas gift of all, His dear Son! Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable Gift! (2 Cor. 9:15)

A Saviour

This is Christ, the precious one who went to the cruel cross for all of us. Because of His grace, and His atoning death on the cross, all who receive Him become "new creatures in Christ Jesus" (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Mabel-Ruth Jackson wrote, that on one Christmas Eve long ago, an American minister rode horseback into the hills of the Holy Land. He stopped his horse in the very fields where the shepherds watched their flocks by night. He looked about him in revered silence.

Down below he saw the dark streets of a little town called Bethlehem. Above him he saw the same stars shining in the dark blue sky that shone there the night the baby Jesus was born. Though the air was cold, Phillips Brooks found it hard to leave. He was deeply moved.

The scene Dr. Brooks had observed in Palestine could not be erased from his mind. He returned to the United States and transposed the vision into a haunting poem.

Lewis Redner, organist in Dr. Brooks' church, was inspired by the poem to set the words to music.

Many others have stood and observed the sacred scene, but only Dr. Phillips Brooks resolved to give the scene to the world. "O Little Town of Bethlehem" has become one of the best-loved Christmas carols.

O little town of Bethlehem,
how still we see thee lie!
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep
the silent stars go by.
Yet in thy dark streets shineth
the everlasting light;
the hopes and fears of all the years
are met in thee tonight.

For Christ is born of Mary;
and, gathered all above,
while mortals sleep, the angels keep
their watch of wond'ring love.
O morning stars, together
proclaim the holy birth,
and praises sing to God the King,
and peace to men on earth.

How silently, how silently,
the wondrous gift is giv'n!
So God imparts to human hearts

American families are estimated to spend well over $1,500 to celebrate Christmas in 2025. The following testimony reveals one gift that stood the test of time and surpassed them all.

A young successful attorney said: "The greatest gift I ever received was a gift I got one Christmas when my dad gave me a small box. How have all the traditions come about?

The Date of Christmas-

The idea to celebrate Christmas on December 25 originated in the 4th century. The Romans celebrated the birthday of their sun god. Roman Church leaders decided that in order to compete with the pagan celebration of the sun god they would themselves order a festival in celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. Although the actual season of Jesus' birth is thought to be in the spring, the date of December 25 was chosen as the official birthday celebration of Christ's Mass so that it would compete head on with the rival pagan celebration.

Mistletoe and Holly-

Two hundred years before the birth of Christ, the Druids used mistletoe to celebrate the coming of winter. The early church banned the use of mistletoe in Christmas celebrations because of its pagan origins. Instead, the use of holly was suggested as an appropriate substitute for Christmas greenery. The holly wreath represents the crown of thorns placed on Christ's head and the red berries symbolize His blood.

Poinsettias-

The Mexicans in the eighteenth century thought the native plant was symbolic of the Star of Bethlehem. Thus the Poinsettia became associated with the Christmas season. They were first brought to America in 1828 by Joel Poinsett, Ambassador to Mexico.

The Christmas Tree-

The Christmas Tree originated in Germany in the 16th century. It is believed that Martin Luther, the Protestant reformer, was the first to light a Christmas tree with candles. While coming home one dark winter's night near Christmas, he was struck with the beauty of the starlight shining through the branches of a small fir tree outside his home. He duplicated the starlight by using candles attached to the branches of his indoor Christmas tree.

The Christmas Candlelight-

Lighting a candle has long since been a symbol of hope for the Christian. Why? "I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life" John 8:12. The world has no eternal hope. The world is always seeking peace and promising peace. But it is only THE LIGHT that can dispel the shroud of darkness encompassing the world. Lighting a Christmas candle is a vibrant illuminating reminder that Jesus, who came as a babe to save sinners, is the hope for all.

The little boy, his red wagon and a promise....

It was the day after Christmas at a church in San Francisco. The pastor of the church was looking over the manger scene when he noticed that the baby Jesus was missing from among the figures. Immediately he turned and went outside and saw a little boy, with a red wagon, and in the wagon was the figure of the little infant, Jesus.

So, he walked up to the boy and said, "Well, where did you get Him, my fine friend?"

The little boy replied, "I got Him from the church."

"And why did you take Him?"

The boy said, "Well, about a week before Christmas, I prayed to Jesus and I told Him if He would bring me a red wagon for Christmas I would give Him a ride around the block in it."

The Struggle for Life

The babies cry out!

Robert Moffat, that great missionary to the jungles of Africa, was born on December 21, 1795.

His aging preacher, whom the church was voting to oust, had complained that they’d seen no visible results in the year, but, of course, no one noticed wee Bobby Moffat as he came forward. They didn't consider that four-year-old boy’s altar prayer an important decision, but that wee Bobby Moffat became the great missionary to the jungles of Africa, clearing the way for the gospel of Jesus Christ. Wee Bobby Moffat became the father-in-law to David Livingston. Wow, that wee boy was important.

Life is important. Every. Baby. Is. Important.

Herod was a baby killer. Today, most liberals, have that in common with Herod. They are present-day baby killers with their pro-death legislation and tax-payer funded abortions. In Hell, the rich man lifted up his eyes in torment wanting Father Abraham to allow Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water to cool his tormented tongue. In like manner, in Hell, those who forsake the truth of the Gospel and repentance and kill babies today will hear the cries of the unborn, “Mama, murdered me!”

“Mama, murdered me.” That may sound harsh, but a literal, eternal punishment in Hell is much more. If they do not get saved and repent of their wicked, vile, hellish murder of babies, they will lift up their eyes in torment. They will cry out along with the rich man. Government and doctors have teamed up to lie and murder Truth. Do not be deceived. Death will come to everyone and judgment is real.

“Away in a Manger,” “Silent Night,” and “O Holy Night.” All picture the cradle as a quiet, reverent, peaceful scene; yet, we know the violence and murder conducted by wicked Herod from the cradle to the cross. Satan would attempt to stop God's redemption plan, the preaching of Jesus, and the preaching of the cross. The preaching of His right as Lord of our lives has been resisted from the time of the cradle. Yet, Emmanuel, God with us is God's gift to us. How can we resist God's love, grace, and mercy? Yet, it has violently been resisted by selfish, sinful men.

John Wesley on December 23rd was kicked out of the church, so he went to the cemetery and preached that sermon using his father's tombstone as a pulpit. John Wesley said, “Give me one hundred preachers who fear nothing but sin, and desire nothing but God, and I care not a straw whether they be clergymen or laymen; such alone will shake the gates of Hell and set up the kingdom of Heaven on earth.”

That dedication, that truth-telling is just what the world does not want - dying to self versus living for self, loving the world versus in love with the world, serving the Master, the Lord Jesus Christ, versus being a master of servants. This is that struggle to give Him control from the cradle to the cross. We must crown Him Lord of all human flesh at the weakness of this flesh.

However, it is impossible for us, on our own, to give Him control of our life. Only the transforming power of God can change a mortal soul into a redeemed soul. Those who live a life of self and sin and contradiction to Scripture cannot lay claim to salvation by Jesus, for it is whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord.

Life is not a struggle when in His control.

Herod and the Babies

What would bring someone to the point of killing babies?

Kill those babies! For unto us a Child is born.

HEROD. He slew all the children that were in Bethlehem and all the coasts thereof from two-years-old and under. Can you imagine? Herod, the horrible. Herod, the baby killer.

This vile, wicked Herod would kill all the babies to get to Jesus. Travel forward and, today, we have women in America who would murder millions of babies to have their rights. They claim it is women's health rights to abort [to murder] their babies.

Oh! the weeping, the great mourning, the death, the murders of these precious children. Egypt, the enslaver of Israel, became the refuge of the great Deliverer - this helpless baby Jesus, the Redeemer of the world, the lover of our soul, this precious Lamb of God - that Herod wanted to murder.

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us,... (John 1:14a)

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder:...

(Isaiah 9:6ab)

Hallelujah! One day Jesus is going to get this government straightened out.

All the precious children that Jesus loves. He said, ”...Suffer the little children to come unto me,...” (Mark 10:14b) These precious children being murdered. How can a mother murder her baby?

The flesh. That is the only explanation. Sin and evil possessing the flesh.

The world, the flesh and the devil. How can we as Christians be in love with the world, the flesh and the devil that wants to murder babies? Out of Herod's wicked heart he desired to kill all the babies simply to get to Jesus, the Lord Jesus Christ. The Word Who became flesh to dwell among us.

Do we want a twisted and perverted and revised Word? No, we want the preserved, powerful, pure Word-Jesus, the Lamb of God. Would you, today, read His Word, study His Word, memorize His Word, tell the lost His Word, preach His Word, teach His Word, sing His Word?

The Lord Jesus, born a babe in a manger, the Word, became flesh and dwelt among us.

Sharing, Seeing and Standing on the Christian's Christmas

Sharing the Gospel

All around the world churches, Christians, pastors, missionaries, and ministers of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ are shining the light of the truth of the gospel to a world that is in darkness and sin; a sin cursed world whose only hope is in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

(Isaiah 7:14)

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

(John 1:14)

For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

(Luke 19:10)

Dear Christian brother and sister, every day of every week we celebrate life - eternal life - abundant through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Even when we do not feel our best we can celebrate that life. Feelings have nothing to do with the truth that Jesus saves and that the Son of man has come to seek and to save that which was lost. I guess when we get a little bug here and there and aren't feeling the best in the world, it just reminds us that there is coming a day when we will receive a new glorified body. Amen!

There will be no more tears. No more sorrow. No more sickness. No more death. All those things are going to be GONE.

Seeing the Miracles

This is a season of miracles. They are right in front of our faces, yet some people want to do everything they can to reject the miracles of God.

The hymnal of the Jewish people contains possibly the most miraculous, messianic predictions in all of the Bible. The prophetic book of Isaiah is packed with the fulfilled, miraculous, messianic prophecies of Jesus Christ.

The world needs to know about the miracles of Jesus - the miracle working power of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, the Eternal One, Creator, all-knowing, all-powerful, Emmanuel, God with us. Keep in mind the world is struggling right now. They are struggling to suppress the truth of Jesus, struggling to reject the sovereign LORD and Saviour, Jesus Christ, God with us.

Charles Spurgeon, the preacher, wrote, “Opposition to divine sovereignty is essential to atheism. Men have no objection to a god who is really no God; I mean, by this, a god who shall be the subject of their caprice, who shall be a lackey to their will, who shall be under their control,-they have no objection to such a being as that; but a God who speaks and it is done, who commands, and it stands fast, a God who has no respect for their persons, but doeth as He wills among the armies of heaven and among the inhabitants of this lower world, such a God as this they cannot endure.”

The miracle of God is all around us. The heavens declare His handiwork. At this time of the year and always, we remember:

the miracle of the star,

the miracle of the manger,

the miracle of the virgin birth,

the miracle of the deity of Jesus Christ,

the miracle of the Saviour

This is the Saviour of men's souls, the lover of their souls, Who came, died on a cruel cross, was buried and rose again miraculously giving eternal life to those who will call upon the name of the Lord.

Standing on the Hope

That is the hope we have in the Lord Jesus Christ. That is the Christian's Christmas - the truth of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Some people are going to get it wrong. They are going to focus on the tinsel, the trees, the Santa Claus, and all the fancy gifts that they are going to heap on themselves and on others. Don't let that be said of you.

Christmas is truly a recognition of the Gospel miracle. This CHRIST is who they will continue to struggle against, move to cancel, and deny boldly. Let us, the believers, get the Christian's Christmas right.

The Lord Jehovah speaks unto the Lord Adonai with clear, messianic promise. This psalm of David is quoted in the New Testament more than any other psalm. All the joy to the world! He is God with us, Deity, our High Priest, King, and Victor.

Let's carefully read Psalm 110 together?

1 The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.

This powerful Christmas psalm gives us assurance, gives us the blessed promise, gives us the commitment of Christ to our victory. This victory can only come through the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, on this Christmas day.

We sing this hymn in our hearts as we rejoice. We are more than conquerors through Jesus Christ from the cradle to the cross to the crown. We have our King, our Priest, our Victor, the Lord Jesus.

Discover the making of Hark the Herald Angels Sing

The same year twenty-one-year-old George Washington began fighting in the French and Indian War, a Christmas carol became popular. It was written by Charles Wesley, born on the eighteenth day of December in 1707. He was the brother of John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, and together they served as missionaries among the Indians and settlers in Georgia. Charles Wesley's Christmas carol, written in 1739, begins:

Hark the herald angels sing,
Glory to the new-born King;
Peace on earth, and mercy mild,
God and sinners reconciled.
Joyful all ye nations rise,
Join the triumph of the skies;
With th' angelic host proclaim,
Christ is born in Bethlehem

The History of Hark the Hearld Angels Sing

Well....actually, it didn't begin that way. Charles Wesley, a prolific writer of poetry and hymns, along with his brother, wrote a new hymn in 1739 that resounded, "Hark How All the Welkin Rings." Welkin , you query! What is a Welkin ! That surely doesn't sound "Christmas" at all. Wesley, in this poem, was utilizing the vivid portrayal of the old king's herald who would have called out to the crowds to announce the birth of a new king. Welkin was the old English term for heavens. Hence, Charles was painting a word picture of heaven singing out the arrival of the King of kings, the baby Jesus. On through ten poetic stanzas he described the glorious coming of the Messiah.

But...again...this is not how we got our beloved "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" carol. The story continues a few years later when George Whitefield arrived at Oxford as a beginning student. None other than the Wesley brothers became young Whitefield's spiritual mentors. They all grew as dynamic evangelists in their own right, but Whitefield still looked to the brothers as elder statesmen. With respect, he told John: "I am but a novice; you are acquainted with the great things of God." Though later they would part ways due to doctrinal differences, they still held each other in high esteem. Whitefield, just before he died, wrote to Charles, and John preached his funeral in 1770. Before his death, though in 1754, Whitefield took his friends' hymn, and, much to their chagrin, edited and revised it to lighten the tone and allow for a personal experience within the song. Whitefield's publication "Collection of Hymns for Sacred Worship" became the popular Great Awakening era songbook, and just as you might have thought, Whitefield included the Christmas hymn, "Hark the Herald Angels Sing!"

But what of the musical score? Nearly 100 years later, William Hayman Cummings, British musician, reworked Fredrick Mendelssohn's symphony with the Whitefield edits and produced what we now know today as "Hark the Herald Angels Sing." This rendition was first sung on Christmas Day 1855 at Waltham Abbey. Remarkably, Mendelsohn had written the music for the 1840 Leipzig Gutenberg Festival to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Johann Gutenberg's printing press. This musical masterpiece,

commemorating the instrument used to widely spread the written Word of God around the world,

would be woven together

with the words of from the "Poet of Methodism"

and the edits of the Great Awakening preacher

 during Washington's War against the French

to bring people together

from around the world

to herald the birth of the Saviour King.

Now that's truly a Christmas miracle!

Is there a Herod in your life?

How can we face the "Herods" in our life?

New Year's resolution. But it's not even Christmas yet and you're talking about New Year's resolutions.

YES!

Those wise men in Matthew 2 had to make preparation, organize their caravan, and travel to Jerusalem and Bethlehem. From preparation to finish, it took wisdom, preparation, and planning. It also probably took prayer on behalf of those wise men. Prayer in seeking what they wanted to find.

Our homes need wisdom. Our churches desperately need wisdom and discernment from God. Those wise men were wise Gentiles who sought Jesus and worshiped Jesus. But the Jews, only a few miles away, did not go to worship the Son of God. Those Jewish priests, they knew the Scripture and the prophecy, yet they did not go to worship the King.

Micah 5:2 and Hosea 11:1 are prophecies fulfilled in the birth of Jesus, the places and events. Only Jesus Christ could have perfectly fulfilled prophecy. No scholar, no scientist, no seeker of the truth can reject Jesus without intentionally twisting and perverting the evidence.

The wise men were men of wealth and power. They were scholars and scientists, and they troubled Herod and Jerusalem.

Herod - The lying, lust-filled, murder (who had his own wife and his two brothers slain because he suspected them of treason) – this Herod wanted to kill Jesus. Satan wanted to kill Jesus. Let's connect the dots to this insanity today. It's the devil. It's wickedness. It's perversion. The wise men were warned of God not to report back to Herod.

And when they had departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him. (Matthew 2:13)

Prophecy fulfilled.

The biblical record of Christ's birth has so many elements that are applicable to us today that prove our need of the Saviour.

Who is your Herod? Each of us have challenges, trials, troubles, and problems that seemingly are overwhelming at times.

I think of a friend with cancer, and it's really bad. I think of those where natural disaster has occurred and they do not have adequate housing. I think of those with seemingly impossible debt. I think of others with such immense medical expenses, caught by their insurance company who now refuses coverage and denies the patient needed treatment, jeopardizing their life.

Maybe you're facing a Herod, a Goliath, an overwhelming giant of problems in your life. Maybe someone or something in your life that has lied to you, aims to crush you, or wants to destroy you.

This is the emotional battle, the physical battle, the financial battle, and yes, the spiritual battle that we face -

the world, the flesh, and the Devil.

This story, the story of the coming of Christ, Emmanuel, God with us, is a story of salvation, a story of victory to those who will believe in Jesus.

Wise people still come to Jesus. They make a commitment to Jesus.

Would we ask and seek wisdom? It takes planning, preparation, and prayer.

Make that resolution.

Seducing Spirits

Seducing Spirits and Doctrines of Devils

In 1 Timothy chapter 4, Paul opens this epistle with,

“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils.”

Halloween is connected with the Druid festival of the dead. One of the major festivals of witchcraft is October 31st, Halloween. Is there any question for discerning, Bible-believing students of God's word that Halloween is satanic? The devil is still subtle, doing everything he can to capture the minds and deceive the hearts of this generation.

Such tools as Harry Potter and Hollywood movies, board games and card games, and cartoons that are permeated with the occult and darkness is a direct attack upon the mind and a direct strategy to captivate the hearts of this generation with darkness. The Bible says,

“Finally my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.”(Eph. 6:10)

How are we to do that in these challenging days, these days of sensuality and demonic activity? Listen to what the Bible says.

“Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” (Eph. 6:12)

These are critical days in the church, and in the hearts of believers, that we put on the whole armor of God that we can stand against the wiles of the devil. There are seducing spirits and doctrines of devils. Halloween is an opportunity for God's people to let the light of the gospel of Jesus Christ shine.

Put on the whole armor of God . Let the word of God speak out in this generation of darkness.

We've already mentioned Harry Potter and some of the occultic themes coming out of Hollywood movies. Even board games, card games and cartoons are permeated with this occultic darkness. Halloween is a pagan, satanic festival that no Christian should take part in.

There is a supernatural world all around us, some inhabited by the angelic servants of God and others by demonic messengers of Satan. However, there is an opportunity for those of us who are saved, have the indwelling Holy Spirit, and have put on the whole armor of God, to stand against the wiles of the devil and to poke holes in the darkness of Satan.

Halloween is a trick, not a treat.

The roots are found in the Celtic practices and festivals observed through the druid priestly cast. The festival, Samhain, was a mixing of the spirit realm with the physical and a suspension of normal order in the universe. Human sacrifice and blood mark this event.

The knowledge and discernment that we have from the Word of God is so critical in combating this satanic assault upon the minds and hearts of this generation.

Listen carefully to God's word. I Peter 5:8 & 9 states,

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.”

It is important that we equip ourselves with the word of God during these ages of darkness.

The modern custom of going from door to door asking for food and candy goes back to the time of the druids. They believed that sinful lost souls were released upon the earth for one night on October 31st while they awaited judgment.

They were thought to throng about the houses of the living and were greeted with banquet-laden tables. People greatly feared these spirits and thought that the spirits would harm and even kill them if the sacrifices they gave did not appease the spirits. They carved demonic faces into the pumpkins or large turnips placing a candle in them to keep the evil spirits away from their homes.

The problem of harmful substances such as razor blades, drugs, poison, needles, etc. being placed in the Halloween treats here in America is no accident. Testimony of several ex-Satanists show that these children killed and injured by the treats were sacrifices to Satan.

The Bible says,

“But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils. Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.” (I Cor. 10:20 & 21)

The Word of God gives us the light and discernment to understand these satanic attacks and deceptions. Look again at what the Bible has to say:

“There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, Or a charmer, or a consultor with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.” (Deut. 18:10-12)

Listen carefully to the Word of God and be not deceived.

Put on the whole armor of God that we can do war and be victorious over the powers of darkness.

History of Thanksgiving

Explore the Unfolding of our Thanksgiving Holiday

The Pilgrims who sailed to this country aboard the Mayflower were originally members of the English Separatist Church (a Puritan sect). They had earlier fled their home in England and sailed to Holland (The Netherlands) to escape religious persecution. There, they enjoyed more religious tolerance, but they eventually became disenchanted with the Dutch way of life, thinking it ungodly. Seeking a better life, the Separatists negotiated with a London stock company to finance a pilgrimage to America. Most of those making the trip aboard the Mayflower were non-Separatists, but were hired to protect the company's interests. Only about one-third of the original colonists were Separatists.

The Pilgrims set ground at Plymouth Rock on December 11, 1620. Their first winter was devastating. At the beginning of the following fall, they had lost 46 of the original 102 who sailed on the Mayflower. But the harvest of 1621 was a bountiful one... [The colonists gathered together for a feast and time of thanksgiving to God for His provisions.]

Governor William Bradford sent "four men fowling" after wild ducks and geese. It is not certain that wild turkey was part of their feast. However, it is certain that they had venison. The term "turkey" was used by the Pilgrims to mean any sort of wild fowl.

Another modern staple at almost every Thanksgiving table is pumpkin pie. But it is unlikely that the first feast included that treat. The supply of flour had been long diminished, so there was no bread or pastries of any kind. However, they did eat boiled pumpkin, and they produced a type of fried bread from their corn crop. There was also no milk, cider, potatoes, or butter. There was no domestic cattle for dairy products, and the newly-discovered potato was still considered by many Europeans to be poisonous. But the feast did include fish, berries, watercress, lobster, dried fruit, clams, venison, and plums.

This "thanksgiving" feast was not repeated the following year. But in 1623, during a severe drought, the pilgrims gathered in a prayer service, praying for rain. When, a long, steady rain followed the very next day, Governor Bradford proclaimed another day of Thanksgiving, again inviting their Indian friends. It wasn't until June of 1676 that another Day of Thanksgiving was proclaimed.

On June 20, 1676, the governing council of Charlestown, Massachusetts, held a meeting to determine how best to express thanks...

The Council has thought meet to appoint and set apart the 29th day of this instant June, as a day of Solemn Thanksgiving and praise to God for such his Goodness and Favour, many Particulars of which mercy might be Instanced, but we doubt not those, who are sensible of God's Afflictions, have been as diligent to espy him returning to us; and that the Lord may behold us as a People offering Praise and thereby glorifying Him; the Council doth commend it to the Respective Ministers, Elders and people Of this Jurisdiction; Solemnly and seriously to keep the same Beseeching that being persuaded by the mercies of God we may all even this whole people offer up our bodies and souls as a living and acceptable Service unto God by Jesus Christ." - 1676 Thanksgiving Proclamation

October of 1777 marked the first time that all 13 colonies joined in a thanksgiving celebration. It also commemorated the patriotic victory over the British at Saratoga. But it was a one-time affair. George Washington proclaimed a National Day of Thanksgiving in 1789.

Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor, and Whereas both Houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me to "recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety. and happiness" - Given under my hand at the city of New York the 3d day of October A. D. 1789 - President George Washington

It was Sarah Josepha Hale (pictured above), a magazine editor, whose efforts eventually led to what we recognize as Thanksgiving. Hale wrote many editorials championing her cause in her Boston Ladies' Magazine, and later, in Godey's Lady's Book (pictured right). Finally, after a 40-year campaign of writing editorials and letters to governors and presidents, Hale's obsession became a reality when, in 1863, President Lincoln, proclaimed the last Thursday in November as a national day of Thanksgiving.

The year that is drawing towards its close, has been filled with the blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies. To these bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come, others have been added, which are of so extraordinary a nature, that they cannot fail to penetrate and soften even the heart which is habitually insensible to the ever watchful providence of Almighty God.....No human counsel hath devised nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things. They are the gracious gifts of the Most High God, who, while dealing with us in anger for our sins, hath nevertheless remembered mercy. It has seemed to me fit and proper that they should be solemnly, reverently and gratefully acknowledged as with one heart and one voice by the whole American People. I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next, as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens - A Presidential Proclamation, given by Abraham Lincoln on the Third Day of October 1863.

Thanksgiving was proclaimed by every president after Lincoln. The date was changed a couple of times, most recently by Franklin Roosevelt, who set it up one week to the next-to-last Thursday in order to create a longer Christmas shopping season. Public uproar against this decision caused the president to move Thanksgiving back to its original date two years later. And in 1941, Thanksgiving was finally sanctioned by Congress as a legal holiday, as the fourth Thursday in November.

A Little Parable for Mothers

The young mother set her foot on the path of life. "Is the way long?" she said. And her guide said, "Yes, and the way is hard, and you will be old before you reach the end of it; but the end will be better than the beginning."

But the young mother was happy, and she would not believe that anything could be better than these years, So she played with her children, and gathered flowers for them along the way, and bathed them in the clear streams; and the sun shone on them, and life was good, and the young mother cried, "Nothing will ever be lovelier than this."

Then night came, and the storm and the path was dark; the children shook with fear and cold; the mother drew them close and covered them with her mantle. And the children said "Oh, Mother, we are not afraid, for you are near, and no harm can come, " and the mother said, "This is better than the brightness of the day, for I have taught my children courage."

And the morning came, and their was a hill ahead. The children climbed and grew weary, but at all times she said to the children, "A little patience and we are the." So the children climbed and when they reached the top, they said, "We could not have done it without you, Mother." And the mother, when she lay down that night, looked up at the stars and said, "This is a better day than the last, for my children have learned fortitude in the face of hardness. Yesterday I gave them courage; today I have given them strength."

And the next day brought strange clouds which darkened the earth. Clouds of war, and hate, and evil, and the children groped and stumbled. And the mother said, "Look up, lift your eyes to the light." And the children looked up and saw above the clouds an Everlasting Glory. It guided them and brought them through and beyond the darkness. That night the mother said, "This is the best day of all, for I have shown my children God."

And the days went on, and the weeks, and the years. The mother grew old, and she was little and bent. But her children were tall and strong and walked with courage. And when the way was hard, when the way was rough, they helped their mother. And lifted for her, for she was a light as a feather. And at last they came to a hill, and beyond that hill they could see a shining light and a beautiful road and golden gates flung wide.

And the mother said, "I have reached the end of my journey. And now I know that the end is better than the beginning, for my children can walk alone, and their children after them." and the children said, "You will always walk with us, Mother, even when you have gone through the gates."

And they stood and watched her as she went alone. The gates closed after her and they said, "We cannot see her, but she is with us still. A mother like ours is more than a memory; she is a living presence."

The Word of God…the very words of God are given to us through Holy men of God used to write it down and preserve it through the generations.

In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.

Imagine Moses coming down from the mountain and the glory of God shining upon his body and on His hands holding the tablets that God wrote the law upon. That's incredible! God used Moses to write the first five books of His Word – the Pentateuch – Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. Other men, who were so in tuned with God, were used to write the remaining books of the Bible. Then, down through time, God continued to use men to keep His very words safe and available for people to read.

Of course, the devil is always actively trying to destroy the Word of God. Some churches, religions…men…have thought more highly of themselves and figured they were smart enough to add to, correct, and just put a hodge podge of things together calling it God’s Word. But in a miraculous way, God’s very Words are with us today! Men like:

Gutenburg ingeniously built a printing press so that God’s Words might be copied and distributed to thousands of people. Erasmus rejected the Catholic church's teachings and printed the original Greek text so that students of the Word could study for themselves what God hath said.

William Tyndale became known has the Father of the English Bible because of his preservation and translation work.

Others preached and studied and taught on the subject so much so that they were appointed to work on the King James Bible Translation.

And yes, that’s right, King James I, the only son of Mary Queen of Scots, authorized the translation of the Bible and the 1611 King James Bible has now stood for over 414 years as God’s Word for the English-speaking people. Truly, “the king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord.”

Now, today, I can confidently and boldly carry and proclaim God’s Word because I know that God worked in the lives of men to perform His perfect Work.

The beauty of the King James Bible is that it is perfect for all ages, not just scholars or priests. It is perfect for me, a girl born in the mountains of Western North Carolina. So many key verses are just simple –

All things were made by him…

All have sinned…

God is love…

Why, a kindergartener can read all those verses! Of course, critics have tried to say that the lofty language of the King James Bible is just too difficult for a child to read, yet educators have proved that the King James Bible is perfect for young children to read. Why, one study showed that the King James has more one-syllable words in it than any of the other so-called versions of the Bible. And, of course, there’s always the good ole Webster’s 1828 dictionary (which we keep on a table in our living room) to look up and learn a new word that you might come across when reading. Now, think about that “lofty language” which critics are so worried about. Well, all the words in the Bible were not everyday household words in 1611 either, but they are the perfectly preserved Words of God – that’s amazing, that’s incredible, that beautiful, that’s a Godly language gifted to us. And, another thing, God’s language is so easy to memorize. I’ve been doing it since….well…I guess since I could talk. All of these verses with a rhyme, or rhythm or cadence that just flow so sweetly into my mind - ahhhh! It has just made it so easy to remember. As the song says…the beautiful words, wonderful words, wonderful words of Life . God’s Word – for me – a mountain—English-speaking young girl - well, that’s the King James Bible. I’ll not be trading it in or trying to correct it or revise or especially put down the intelligence of my friends by telling them not to read it. No, in fact, I’m not only going to keep reading, studying, memorizing it, but I think I'll keep helping to print it and distribute it too.

Is Easter Correct?

Is Easter correct? This is a special time of the year for me because just before Easter, as a 17-year-old young person, I trusted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Amen! I got the victory over sin ... victory in Jesus! I serve a risen Savior, Jesus Christ!

Think about that word Easter in Acts 12:4. Is this is a bad translation? On the contrary, the King James Bible is accurate because verse 3 indicates these were the days of the unleavened bread. The Passover had ended (Leviticus 23:4-8), which occurred the day before unleavened bread (which lasted a week). Herod was waiting to kill Peter after the celebration of his own pagan feast, Ishtar , Easter .

So, the King James Bible is correct when using the word Easter , not the word Passover. The history, the content and thereby the word translation and usage of Easter in the King James Bible is perfectly preserved.

Are you reading? My list of books to read over the last 12 to 18 months has been a unique and fascinating assortment of subjects. In January, I finished reading through a special commemorative edition of the King James Bible.

As I read through the Old Testament and the New Testament, consistently God's Word addressed the very issues of our day and the issues in the books I was reading. Now, March 2025 is National Reading Month, and as I finished that procession of incredible, even shocking books, along with God's Word as the light shining on these critical subjects, I thought, "Reading is a gift." Reading is a precious, powerful gift that God has given each of us.

What are we reading? Now, my list consists of:

So Help Me God by Mike Pence.

Here is something to think about. "Standards are not the goal of the Christian life. They aren't proof of spirituality, but they are crucial in helping us stay true to God's Word, and will aid us in remaining spiritual. Spiritually-minded people will have standards. But standards don't make people spiritual. Standards with the right motive will draw us away from carnality and closer to Christ." That was a quote from a Biblical Approach to Music by Caleb and Katie Garraway.

Now, the Apostle Paul thought reading and studying was important. 2 Timothy 4, Paul says, The cloak that I left at Troas with Carpus, when thou comest bring with thee, and the books, but especially the parchments. Keep in mind, the cold prison the Apostle Paul was confined. He wanted a cloak to fend off that cold, dark, damp prison, Soon thereafter there would be no more cold for Paul, no more need of a cloak, for the Apostle Paul would receive the crown. But even in this hour of persecution and execution, he wanted to keep reading and studying. Why? Because he was going to preach another sermon or teach another Bible class? No. He read, he studies, he learned in preparation for meeting his Lord and Saviour?

Is My Faith Enough?

Really, does it matter?

Does it really matter?

That is the word we hear today. That's what matters! Really?

Thou believeth that there is one God, thou doest well. The Devils believe and tremble. James 2:19 - Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

That's hard to believe, but the Devils believe there is an enemy. What about the Devil, deception, death? The Devil, Satan himself, could care less if we talk God, faith, prayer, and values.

There are many religious people, politicians, preachers, in all walks of life that talk about Jesus. Some even support abortion and talk about Jesus. Some are fornicators, rock-and-roll stars and they talk and sing about Jesus, but live contrary to Jesus.

Does it really matter? But does their walk and talk reveal a godly changed life changed by Jesus? Dead faith and demonic faith lead to a devil's hell. Only the dynamic faith, the delivering faith demonstrated by the devoted life to Christ, is soul-saving, redeeming transforming faith. The dynamite of God has blasted away the diamond treasure of a Christ-changed life, changed by the power of Jesus Christ.

Do you remember what James said? Devils believe, but of course they're not saved. Let's repeat that and think on it. They believe, but Devils are not saved. James said that Devils have emotion, and they have emotion about their belief. Devils tremble. Devils believe and Devils tremble. You can shake, quake, weep, rattle, rock-and-roll with Jesus and Jesus' words, but that which is contrary to the Word - the Word of God - His Word - if it's contrary to the Word, it ain't saving faith.

The NIV and the ESV omits I am Alpha and Omega the first and the last .

Does that matter? It's sneaky the way words are changed. Whole phrases, definitions, verses are omitted in modern Bibles. Over and over again the true and living Lord Jesus Christ is attacked subtly. Yea, hath God said. That's what the devil said.

Salvation and the forgiveness of sin is in and through the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Apostle Paul tells us this in Colossians 1:14:

The NIV and the ESV omits through his blood .

Does it really matter? Think about it.

Is Mary the Blessed Virgin of Islam?

How could we dare deprive, discourage, or demand somebody quit reading and studying God's precious Word?

The Roman Church did! From monasteries, monks, friars, popes, and the Roman Church amassing great wealth and power over people - they did not want people to study the Word of God and know the truth of God. It is an evil, devilish history. Take time to study the history of the Roman Church.

But thank God, the truth makes us free. Not even the gates of hell can prevail. Hallelujah! What a Saviour we have! Now, far beyond the Catholic Church, Mary has thousands of shrines dedicated to her. More dedicatory shrines have been built to Mary to than Jesus. This rapidly elevates her in becoming the Queen of Ecumenicalism.

It's not just Catholics who are interested in Mary. Apparitions of Mary even appear in Islamic countries An entire chapter in the Qur'an is to her, and hundreds of hadiths pay homage to Mary. Mary, the Blessed Virgin of Islam, can it be?

Now, if we want to know the truth about saints, about salvation, about who Jesus is, about who Mary is, where do we go? We go to God's Word. The King James Bible for us today holds God's powerful, pure, preserved Word of God.

Saint ain't a bad word, people (excuse the "Southern" emphasis)! As a matter of fact, saint is from the same Greek word as holy and sanctified. Dear brother and sister, this is talking about all true believers. Do you know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? If yes, then God calls you, the Word of God calls you, a saint ! We're not saints because we're perfect, we're saints because we have the perfect Savior. Jesus has forgiven and washed our sins away.

Study your history. With Constantine came paganism and pagans professing Christianity. The New Testament standard of church and worship, leadership, and the authority of God's Word changed or, better said, the pagans changed it. The unconverted changed it. The Bible does not say Peter is the head, nor the founder, nor the foundation of the church. The Bible does not even say is supreme to all other churches, but the Roman Church, Pope, and bishops perverted and twisted Scripture and the doctrine of salvation.

The Catholic perversion of Scripture invented a works system for achieving righteousness. Works included sacraments, eucharist, transubstantiation, penance, confession to priests, and prayers to Mary and saints. The child of God and student of His Word understands that there is only one mediator between God and man, Jesus Christ - Not Mary, not St. Thomas, nor St. Patrick. No!

No Pope or priest forgives sin. Only Jesus can forgive sin. It's not penance and purgatory nor popes.

We had a dear Catholic lady coming to our Bible study. I pray she got saved. She told the priest all about what she was learning by studying the Bible herself. The priest told her quit that Bible study and just listen to him. He insisted that she didn't need Bible study. That priest told her to just listen to the priest. Sadly, she quit Bible study and returned to the Catholic Church. Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God . How could we dare deprive, discourage, or demand someone quit reading and studying God's word? It is Life-giving, life-transforming, and it is the powerful Words of Life?

The Billboard Top 10 lists the following artists as some of the world's most popular in mainstream music: Tyler, the Creator; The Cure, Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Jelly Roll, and Zach Bryan. In the "religious" venue, popular K Love radio lists the following "Christian" musicians: Lauren Daigle, Kanye West, Elevation Worship, Casting Crowns, For King and Country, and Mercy Me. A quick perusal of any of these artists' photos and biographies should lead a Bible-believing Christian to ask why anyone would want to listen to the music of these people. But, how do I know what kind of music to listen? Country, Bluegrass, Pop, Rock and Roll, CCM? What type of music would please God?

Ephesians 5:19

Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

The following is a simple outline of study in which three questions will be asked about music:

--Is God interested in your music?

--Does God say anything to us about the kind of music we listen to?

--What should the believers Attitude, Aptitude and Altitude be towards music?

Use this outline to springboard further Biblical study as you develop a Christian philosophy for music.

Music Is Not Neutral

Music either draws us closer to God or away from God.

Your music will affect your body, emotions and spirit.

The neutrality in music started during the 1950’s with Christians who did not want to separate from the world.

American Medical Association (AMA) did a study in airports about birds. Birds are dangerous in airports because they can cause crashes. The scientists experimented with classical and rock music. It was not how loud the music was played, but the style of music played. Whenever the rock music was not played, the birds returned to their nests. But when it was played, they stayed away.

If music is neutral, then when we get saved we should not have to change our music. Psalms 33; 40:3; 96:1; 98:1; 144:9; 149:1

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

In 2 Corinthians 5:17, the word new means new in quality.

God gave music to minister to our hearts

The world's music is base, fleshly, carnal—Exodus 32:17-19

God’s music is lofty, spiritual, Godly—Psalm 96 (Unto the Lord)

Question 2: Does God say anything to us about the kind of music we listen to?

Answer:

Yes—God gives us gifts and talents. He is the giver; but the world corrupts God’s gifts. Our music is to always honor the Lord (Ephesians 5:19) The fullness is first—not music and then fullness out of emotion. (Ephesians 5:19) Make melody in your hearts. The world’s music is bass line, volume set, and emotion driven. Music is a universal vehicle carrying a message.

There should be a r ight balance of elements of music.

The most emphasized element is the melody—Ephesians 5:19

You probably heard the judges during the final tasting of a cooking competition. Perhaps it was of banana bread. As the judge lifts the piece to his mouth, he first puts it through the smell test. Does it smell like banana? Or perhaps it does not, or maybe the cinnamon is the dominant scent. Then comes the taste. He lets it linger in his mouth as he savours and "tests" each layer of flavor. Who will win? Yes, all the elements are vital, yet the primary focus will be on the one that exudes the perfect balance of flavor while allowing the star of the dish - the banana - to shine. The potent cinnamon bread will not win first place, because it overpowered the key ingredient.

What should the believers Attitude, Aptitude and Altitude be towards music?

Answer:

Your attitude—As unto the Lord

Should not be emotion-driven or entertainment-seeking

Your Aptitude—learn music, practice music, and understand music—

To ignorantly accept all types of music without knowledge of its author's intent, musical structure, or doctrinal teaching is foolish.

Proverbs 18:15 - The heart of the prudent getteth knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge.

Proverbs 1:7 - The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Your Altitude—lifts up the Lord and Holy Spirit

The emphasis of Godly music is not to lift up your flesh, pride and emotion.

Take time to analyze the musical structure. If beat, boom, and bass are the prominent elements, the melody, hence the message is being minimized. The beat, boom, and bass trigger the release of dopamine and neurotransmitters within the body that create physical and emotional reactions apart from the message of the song.

What saith the LORD.

As a newborn babe in Christ, I was given a King James Scofield Study Bible, a Living Bible, a Good News for Modern Man, and finally a Compact King James Bible. I’m sure the givers meant well, but no one said anything about Bible translations. However, I did begin memorizing Scripture daily from the King James Bible. From somewhere, I obtained a number of study booklets that were the New American Standard version. Several years further into my walk with Jesus, the “textual” issue and modern Bible versions became a serious study for me. There are actually only two types of Bibles. Those that have come from the “Received Text” family of manuscripts and those that come from the “Critical Text” family. The Received Text has historically been used by churches dating back to the time of the apostles. Whereas, the Critical Text has only dominated new translations for the last 150 years. {For more, request the book Not One Jot Or Tittle, Dr. Putney} If we do not get it right on the Scripture, GOD’S HOLY BIBLE, we will not get it right. In Spirit and in Truth we must worship; our Song must be holy and true. Come out, dear child of GOD, and be Separate for HIS GLORY. Amen

The aftermath of the storm revealed the devastation that was left. The little town of Marshall, NC was covered with water. On one side of Marshall is the river and the other is a mountain. The water had nowhere to go but up as it came raging through. It covered the streets and downtown area up to the second story of buildings (about 19 feet). As the flood waters receded, businesses were caked in mud and sludge. In Asheville, the businesses along the French Broad River were completely destroyed. Biltmore Village, the entrance to the famous Biltmore house, was covered with water. East of Asheville are Swannanoa and Black Mountain. Both of those faced extreme devastation. I was finally able to text a Christian brother who lives in Swannanoa, and he described 3-4 feet ruts in his driveway (praise the Lord that he is safe).

The power on The Voice property was finally restored about 48 hours after we lost it. Internet connection and cell phones came up about the same time. Family and friends had been trying to contact us, but we had been completely disconnected from all service. The local electric co-op has done a great job at restoring power in our area; however, there are those throughout the mountain communities, up hollers, and on remote ridges that have been entirely cut-off and will not get power/water back for weeks, maybe longer. In locations all around the mountains, bridges are washed out, trees are down (some trees look as if they simply exploded), roads are washed away and some towns like Chimney Rock are gone. Down river from Chimney Rock, the beautiful Lake Lure, where we enjoyed our honeymoon has been filled by the debris of the town of Chimney Rock. Our cell phone service is still spotty at times around the area. USPS has suffered severe impairments. Banking has been strained to supply cash since any business that was able to open could only accept cash (So much for the idea of becoming a “cashless” society). Grocery supply was spoiled, and healthcare was put on hold. Our own local hospital had already been under fire for poor management and inadequate staffing, and now is operating without water. Just over the mountain, a new hospital had been built, but that was overcome by the raging Nolichucky River, all patients had to be evacuated by helicopter and the building is now a complete loss.

As we left our property in search of food, water, banking, and mailing services, the atmosphere reminded us of when we spent time serving in Venezuela. The gas lines were long, the ATM was crowded, some people waited 30+hours in line for groceries at the store. How quickly the America we know can change. In a blink, we all were looking for the old timey radios, using walkie talkies, pulling out the propane grill, and counting our cash.

The clean up from this devastation in Western NC and Eastern TN will take years. Interstates will need to be restored. Business will need to be rebuilt. Trees will grow up in places that they were torn down. People will mourn the loss of hundreds of lives. Churches have poured supplies into, cities, towns, and even the hollers where just a few families have lived for multiple generations. Some of these mountain-born, mountain-raised are even finding it emotionally overwhelming to accept the "flood" of support now pouring into their communities. Others digging out, wonder if FEMA will help them rebuild everything that was lost. Mortgage and insurance companies are offering no help to victims because flood coverage was not within their policy. Many also will struggle through bureaucratic red-tape and regulations imposed on their communities in the aftermath of a disaster. Politico reports the following on October 2, 2024, in lieu of the Hurricane Helene devastation:

You may be asking yourself, what can I do?

Pray—pray for those in Western NC to be saved. I had talked with a friend from Raleigh and told her that Asheville is a wicked city, most recently known as “Beer City USA.” On a side note: Many of those beer joints were washed away...perhaps to never open again. May God use this tragedy to save some soul. I asked my friend from Swannanoa what he needed. He replied, “Revival”…..something that we all need. In the midst of the rebuilding of the wall Nehemiah asked God to listen to the prayers of those that feared him. Nehemiah 1:11 “O Lord, I beseech thee, let now thine ear be attentive to the prayer of thy servant, and to the prayer of thy servants, who desire to fear thy name: and prosper, I pray thee, thy servant this day, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man.” #ButGod

Participate—through your local church. Many have sent needed supplies. Some have given online to meet specific needs. After initial response, the long road to recovery will require great financial support. Some people call me Old Glory, others call me the Star-Spangled Banner, but whatever they call me, I am your Flag, the Flag of the United States of America... Something has been bothering me, so I thought! might talk it over with you...because it is about you and me.

I remember some time ago people lined up on both sides of the street to watch the parade and naturally I was leading every parade, proudly waving in the breeze. When your daddy saw me coming, he immediately removed his hat and placed it against his left shoulder so that the hand was directly over his heart. . .remember?

And you, I remember you. Standing there straight as a soldier. You didn't have a hat, but you were giving the right salute. Remember little sister? Not to be outdone, she was saluting the same as you with her right hand over her heart. . .remember?

What happened? I'm still the same old flag. Oh, I have a few more Stars since you were a boy. A lot more blood has been shed since those parades of long ago.

But now I don't feel as proud as I used to. When I come down your street you just stand there with your hands in your pockets, and I may get a small glance and then you look away. Then I see the children running around and shouting. . .they don't seem to know who I am... I saw one man take his hat off then look around, he didn't see anybody else with theirs off so he quickly put his back on.

Is it a sin to be patriotic anymore? Have you forgotten what I stand for and where I've been?...Anzio, Guadalcanal, Korea and Vietnam. Take a closer look at the Memorial Honor Rolls sometimes, of those who never came back to keep this Republic free... One Nation Under God...when you salute me, you are actually saluting them.

Well, it won't be long until I'll be coming down your street again. So, when you see me, stand straight, place your right hand over your heart... and I'll salute you, be waving back.. . and I'll know that...

Burning Pride, DEI in IVY League and Plagiarism, Contending for Freedom, Worst Offenders of Religious Liberty

Burning Pride— Dave Williams is the current leader of the Republican Party in Colorado as well as a congressional candidate. Demands from traditional GOP leadership is calling for his resignation due to some of the recent comments he made regarding the LGBTQ+ movement. Williams, who called for the burning of the PRIDE flag, said, “We make no apologies for saying God hates Pride or pride flags as it’s an agenda that harms children and undermines parental authority, and the only backlash we see is coming from radical Democrats, the fake news media, and weak Republicans who bow down at the feet of the leftist cancel culture.” In a recent email to the constituency, Williams wrote that the LGBTQ people are “‘godless groomers’ who want to ‘harm our children’.” It would take a 60% majority to remove Williams from the Colorado GOP leadership, which has yet to be completed as there is no apparent heir to his position. DEI in Biology— at two different universities. At DePaul University, part-time biology professor Anne d’Aquino was fired for assigning her students to write concerning the “genocide in Gaza on human health and biology.” She believed that the assignment fell in lines with the course description to introduce the students “to the diverse microorganisms that cause significant disease within the human population. The biological basis of infectious disease will be explored with a focus on the mechanisms of viral and bacterial infection and spread. The principles behind tools used to combat infection will be examined, including antiseptics, antibiotic/antivirals, and vaccination.” Upon learning of the assignment, the university launched an investigation to the optional assignment. The conclusion was that “it had negatively affected the learning environment by introducing extraneous political material that was outside the scope of the academic subject as outlined in the curriculum.” In other words, the university did not want the professor to introduce political philosophy into a science class. The university also stated that they “expressed significant concern” since the class assignment supported those who “resisted the normalization of ethnic cleansing.” It was during this same time that the DePaul administration were handling anti-Israel encampment on the campus. D’Aquino is appealing the administration’s decision of her removal and stated that it “was a breach of my academic freedom and another example of this administration’s efforts to twist any discussion of Palestine and Palestinian liberation language into false claims of anti-Semitism.” (msn.com)

IVY League Plagiarizes— Tracie Jones-Barret and Alana Anderson were hired by MIT to help introduce the university to DEI culture; however, both are now in trouble as both have been accused of plagiarism. The 71 page objection highlighted the numerous pages, excerpts and thoughts that both Jones-Barret and Anderson stole from other scholars in their dissertations. Anderson, who is no longer at MIT, was the assistant dean of DEI at the computer science college for MIT. In 2017, Anderson earned her PhD from Boston College. According to the complaint, she has copied over a full page of Mark Chae’s, a counseling professor at Pillar College, without crediting him for the work in her thesis. All that Chae desired was for Anderson to acknowledge his work in her thesis. Chae told The Free Beacon, “Anderson appears comfortable claiming credit for significant portion of another author’s academic work.” Anderson also allegedly stole from Jarvis Givens of the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Anderson copied so well that she added in the typos from the works. Jones-Barret also has been accused of plagiarism. She is accused of using an entire section on “ethical considerations” from a classmate at Northeastern. Emmitt Wyche III completed his dissertation in 2020, which Jones-Barret used without proper citation. He stated that over 10 pages, paragraphs and sentence structures were used without proper documentation by Jones-Barret. Jones-Barrett and Anderson are not the only DEI deans who have been accused of plagiarism. While many have been accused, the universities as a whole have not taken actions against them.

In light of these accusations, MIT has decided to no longer require a diversity statement from potential faculty members on their applications as well as a DEI affirmation from existing faculty. MIT has recanted the DEI philosophy and reintroduced the mandatory standardized test score submissions for potential students. MIT President Sally Kornbluth with support from the academic deans, the Provost and Chancellor recently announced the shift from DEI back to the traditional requirements for the university. Kornbluth stated that her “goals are to tap into the full scope of human talent, to bring the very best to MIT, and to make sure they thrive once here. We can build an inclusive environment in many ways, but compelled statements impinge on freedom of expression, and they don’t work.” (msn)

CONTENDING FOR FUNDAMENTAL CHRISTIANITY - Take note of Matt. 6:33: But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. The New American Standard says: But seek first his kingdom.

God is missing. The NIV states: But seek first his kingdom. God is missing. Who are you seeking? How many times does the NAS or NIV need to eliminate the name of God, the deity, the name of Jesus before you would reject that modernist Bible version. A PACT has been made with the Devil. Jesus knew the thoughts of the Pharisees - they were rejecting the deity of Christ. The doctrine of hell has been eliminated dozens of times in these corruptions of Scripture. While “Hell” is mentioned more than 50 times and its concept taught numerous more, the NIV NAS and ESV eliminate and omit it. Google’s AI feature even suggests that “Others view it [Hell] metaphorically [not as a physical place of punishment], emphasizing separation from God or the consequences of rejecting Him; the NIV, like other translations, reflects these diverse perspectives.” Christian, do the study! This is an attack on God - a blasphemy of Jesus Christ.

Worst Offenders of Religious Freedom — The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom made recommendation to the U.S. State Department for certain countries to be added to its list of Countries of Particular Concern. Among those cited due to numerous documented accounts of imprisonment, torture, threats and other perpetrated violence upon people for their religious beliefs include: Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, India, Nigeria and Vietnam. Particular entities of concern include the Houthis [whom the Trump Administration listed as terrorist but Biden removed from the terror watch list] who continue to dominate the country of Yemen, forcing gender segregation, male escorts for females, and detainment for Yemeni Christians. In many African countries Islamic terrorists have brutally forced Christians from their home and documented accounts have been given of extremists employing Shari’a law, cutting limbs and stoning those who have converted to Christianity from Islam. In India, the report details the destruction of over 500 churches and the displacing of more than 70,000. In lieu of its findings, the Commission has made multiple suggestions to Congress in effort to defend religious freedom worldwide.

Do we have a Christian Heritage?

Did you know that each of the 13 original English colonies spoke of their intent to spread the message of Christ? North Carolina has a strong history of gospel preaching. Note the language of the Carolina Charter of 1663:

By the way, all fifty state constitutions speak of the Almighty God of the universe, who gave America freedom and liberty.

George Washington said, "No people can be bound to acknowledge and adore the invisible hand which conducts the affairs of men more than the people of the United States." Our National Anthem proclaims: Praise the power that hath made and preserved us a nation!. . . And this be our motto: "In God is our Trust." Yes, the Ten Commandments hang on the wall of the Supreme Court. On our Capitol Building, monuments, and coins are the message of our Christian Heritage.

Harvard's official motto was "For Christ and the Church." Yale's purpose was "To plant, and under ye Divine blessing to propagate in this wilderness, the blessed Reformed, Protestant religion." Princeton was founded with the motto "Under God's Power she flourishes."

The Pony Express traveled through some very hostile territory. To avoid added weight, the riders did not carry rifles. Small saddles were used, yet each Pony Express rider was expected to carry the Bible, Old Testament and New Testament, on every trip.

Our history, our songs, yes, our heritage have been rooted in the principles of Christianity. The founders understood that to be the only way the New Republic would work. Yet, in my lifetime I have seen an aggressive attack and agenda against this heritage. Do we need ask WHY in respect to the insanity all around us today?

Where is the Treasure of America?

During the pioneer days in America, an old man found his way into a western settlement. He was very poor and desperately looking for food. As he walked through the town, someone stopped to talk with him and noticed a pouch around his neck. Explaining that it was given to him many years before, the old man opened the pouch, removed an old, crumpled paper, and handed it to the inquirer. Upon closer examination, the inquirer discovered that the paper was a regular discharge from the federal army. Signed by General George Washington himself, the discharge entitled the man to a lifetime pension. Can you imagine how surprised the old soldier was to find out that he had been carrying around a promise that his needs would be met, but because he had never claimed it, he had spent years in wandering and hunger! On October 19, 1781, at Yorktown, the British army Commander Cornwallis surrendered to General George Washington. It was decisive – Freedom was born, and the American dream was underway. A dream dedicated to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

From the very beginning, our nation has had a unique spiritual dimension – firm in the doctrine of separation of church and state, at the same time recognizing the value of our religious institutions…thereby creating the climate and conditions in which those institutions could flourish.

From the days of the colonial clergy and early circuit riders to the present time, there is an unbroken line of preachers and religious leaders who have ministered to the spiritual needs of the nation and the world. Christian beliefs are evident all about us.

Picture a one-dollar bill – which acknowledges “In God We Trust!” It’s not our great riches, nor our military power for the defense to which we trust. It’s not the U.S. economy or strength of the dollar.

Between the Atlantic and the Pacific lies a magnificently carried land: rugged mountains, rolling plains, arid deserts, endless forests, mighty rivers and placid lakes. Our forefathers – rugged pioneers – carved out our liberty in the grandeur of this wilderness. They have bequeathed to us the responsibility for this great land. Patriots – we should “Praise God for our great land.”

America needs a patriotic people. America needs a people willing to recognize God as the one from whom all blessings flow.

The treasure of America is in your heart. Where you are – be what you can be. Be what you should be. Allow good and right to reside in your heart. Do good where you can and whenever you can.

The Psalmist wrote: “... for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reins. ” “In God We Trust.” Fill your heart and mind with the good and right. Reach higher, still higher above the base, sensual, carnal wallow of the world. Be not a worldling, but a child of the King. Let this royal reside in your heart. This is what America needs.

The Twelve Words They Understood During Protest

The Founding Fathers of this nation understood twelve simple words from the beginning. What were those words? Circulated in 1772 "The Rights of the Colonists" written by Samuel Adams stated:

Those words were the words of Christ: "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

Later Samuel Adams made this commentary in lieu of independence:

Several times I have heard a popular radio host say something to the effect that "America is great because of freedom." That's not altogether true. Remember Jesus said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." Freedom, whether it is freedom of speech or freedom of press - freedom requires responsibility and responsibility demands restraint, but there can be no restraint without right living; But how can there be right living without the Righteous One, Jesus Christ? Again, Samuel Adams stated:

Knowing and doing the Truth will secure freedom. This protesting parade of perverted people demonstrating against everything patriotic and pure is diametrically opposed to all that spells TRUTH and FREEDOM.

As I stood at the Liberty Bell Pavilion, the inscription, "Proclaim Liberty throughout All the land unto All the Inhabitants Thereof," moved me. The crack in the Liberty Bell reminded me how fragile liberty is. Then I was reminded of Isaiah 61:1 & 2 "To proclaim liberty to the captives..." and "proclaim liberty throughout the land..." Leviticus 25:10. Jesus is "...the way, the truth, and the life:..." There is no freedom apart from Jesus.

Do protestors check the truth? The alphabet soup of media and commentating protestors do not check the facts, seek truth or care for either. In 2002, Oprah Winfrey, named by Time in 2022 as one of its 100 Most Influential People, says of "Bowling for Columbine" produced by Michael Moore in 2002, "I'm encouraging everybody to go and see it because it will really get you thinking about where we are as a nation," never bothering to check whether many of the "facts" in the so-called "documentary" were even true. Moore's seething pile of lies, half-truths and gross misrepresentations, was anything but what a normal person would even consider to be a "documentary." Along with that Hollywood crowd and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the film's other biggest fans are the French - the French know good anti-Americanism when they see it.

In America, they can protest, however where were these "anti-war protestors over the years when Saddam Hussein slaughtered hundreds of thousands of his own people—not only with artillery but with poison gas? Did American "anti-war" protestors hold huge demonstrations against him? Where were they when Saddam sent his army into neighboring Kuwait to murder, steal, and destroy? Did American "anti-war" protestors demonstrate against Iraq then? No, but Soros funded protestors flood American colleges in 2024 with Anti-Israel propaganda after the worst attack since the Holocaust and permeate the halls of Congress with pro-Hamas rhetoric.

The wicked are at war! Lost people and perhaps some Christians do not understand that the wicked are at war. There is no peace in the heart of the wicked. That is what we are seeing on college campuses and across this nation. They are at war in their own hearts. They have no peace in their lives, and there is a constant struggle to find peace, satisfaction, and security in life. The rock and rollers have marched on this for decades painting the peace sign everywhere. You cannot be vile, immoral, and wicked in this world and have any peace in your heart. There will be no peace for these Palestinians, agitators, rebels, or invaders that have come into our country to destroy this “in God we Trust” land. They hate the Bible and truth. There is a war in hearts and in this flesh. We know there is disease and infliction that come upon this dying body. That is why we must preach! We will face God one day and must stand and give account, not to the government, but to Almighty God. Wicked men do not want to accept the fact that they must give account to God. There is even a constant struggle within our own selves to seek peace from this world, whether from money or things. There is no peace from this world, and you cannot make a deal with the devil. Scripture makes this clear. There is no peace, saith the Lord, unto the wicked. Isa. 48:22

"Ye that love ease and shrink from the dangers of war; yet that wish to see peace restored once more; ye that would be happy beyond the grave and live forever - attend to my proposal. It is this: A THOROUGH NATIONAL REFORMATION. This will do what millions of money and thousands of men, with guns and swords and all the dreadful artillery of death, cannot do - it will procure us peace again, a lasting, well-established peace."

All fifty state constitutions speak of the Almighty God of the universe, who gave America Freedom and liberty.

Our history, our songs, yes, our heritage have been rooted in the principles of Christianity. The founders understood that to be the only way the New Republic would work. They understood that freedom depended on TRUTH - THE TRUTH!

Ronald Reagan said, "America was founded by people who believe that God was their rock of safety. I recognize we must be cautious in claiming that God is on our side, but I think it is alright to keep asking if we're on His side." I believe it was also Mr. Reagan who said, "If you don't see the light, you will feel the heat." The stakes are high my dear Americans. If we stand it will be upon THE TRUTH!

Why do we have a flag?

What is the Flag? A flag or standard is a military tool used for centuries to distinguish a distinctively different force. It is an insignia of leadership and a rallying point for troops. Henceforth, it becomes the first object of attack because, when stripped from its post, it immediately brings confusion and dejection resulting in a victory for its attackers. To strike the flag or pull it down in a fight is undoubtedly a sign of submission, surrender and defeat. On June 14, 1777, after George Washington had requested a flag for his soldiers, the Second Continental Congress took a break from the crafting of the Articles of Confederation to clearly define the description of the Patriot’s flag. In 1861 it became a rally banner for the Union forces, and with the invention of print on fabric became widely distributed in common households. By 1916, Woodrow Wilson proclaimed June 14th Flag Day. On February 23, 1945, the United States Marines overcame entrenched and unrelenting Japanese to top Mount Suribachi. From land to sea, Americans cheered as they did under the pen of Sir Francis Scott Key years before when they saw the stars and stripes rise from the rubble. The Marines at Iwo Jima rallied and surged to victory and that little flag was soon replaced by a 96 x 56 inch flag that was undeniable to all! On July 4, 1960, President Eisenhower stood over the first-to-be-flown, 50 star-American flag and people of all ages pledged allegiance to the flag “under God.” The Flag is for distinction. It is for leadership. It is for rallying the troops. AND it is the first to be attacked and replaced. Americans - fly the red, white and blue!

Ukrainian Support—Congress voted on a bill that will send aid to Ukraine as well as Israel. Look at those who voted in favor and against the bill. Victoria Spartz is the US Representative for District 5 Indiana. Why take note of her vote? She is the only person elected to Congress that is Ukrainian born. Her vote—against the bill. The reason—better oversight of US funds and border security. One of the reasons why she may be taking this stand is that she is in a re-election fight for her seat. Spartz said that just because she was born in Ukraine does not necessarily mean that she should vote to send aid if she feels as if the money would be used inappropriately. (msn.com) US fiscal responsibility?….in lieu of over 30 trillion dollars in debt.

Do numbers lie?—The UN halved its original numbers for the women and children killed in Gaza earlier this month. Originally they reported 9,500 women and 14,500 children dead; now they are reporting 4,959 women and 7,797 children dead. So where is the UN getting their numbers? How are they receiving the numbers so quickly? Some things to think about when numbers of civilians are reported dead during war. People might be missing but not dead. They could have fled, gone into hiding or died of natural causes. Victims may be buried under buildings, vaporized, burnt, or disfigured so that forensics would not be able to identify them. If the UN’s sources “facts” from Hamas, how credible is their data?

Board Correction—The North Carolina Board of Governors have decided to recant their previous decision to require DEI training and teaching on public university campuses across the state. This change will no longer require faculty and staff of public universities and colleges in North Carolina to complete the yearly DEI training. North Carolina, unlike Texas and Florida has chosen to not legislate a DEI ban, but leave it to individual institutions. UNC Chapel Hill chose to divert its DEI funding to add additional police support after pro-Palestinian protests. Patriots nationwide applauded the men’s fraternity who raised and defended the American flag amidst the rampage on campus.

Our brains and our faith, dear child of God, is affected by what goes into our minds. Beware of addictions from drugs, alcohol, music and fashion. The power of addiction captivates and controls our minds and our bodies. The Gospel of John in Navajo and Cherokee alongside the English King James were printed by The Voice in the Wilderness to give the Native Americans the opportunity to know the transforming mind of the Christ and the power of the Gospel that can free from the enslavement of sin. Casino gambling is a 39 billion dollar industry for 243 federally recognized Native American tribes in 29 states. Gambling activates and stimulates the brain in such a way to form an addiction. Dopamine released in the brain gives a high and feel-good emotion and potent pleasure to the point of addiction. The money received by Native Americans from gambling dividends is certainly addicting. The Bible warns: For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. How could they, in their minds and hearts, err from the faith unless they have the faith? And then they are pierced through with many sorrows. Can you imagine receiving thousands of dollars a month and voting for a politician that campaigns on taking your dividends away? Or what about a pastor who might preach against gambling and that which gives you those dividends? The power of money and piercing of sorrows is to many an eternal stronghold.

Did you Decorate?—Each Memorial Day, our family takes time to visit a grave of Col. Connelly buried in Asheville. While we are not related to him or his family in any way, there is a connection on Rebekah’s side of the family dating back to the Civil War. Originally called Decoration Day, Memorial Day was set up to honor those who sacrificed their lives in America’s bloodiest war. While the official birthplace of Memorial Day is Waterloo, NY, the decision to honor those who had fallen was observed throughout the nation at various times. The first national Decoration Day was held at Arlington National Cemetery when 5,000 people decorated the 20,000 Civil War graves. James Garfield, former President and veteran spoke at the occasion. While it was mostly celebrated in the North on May 30th, the Southern States did remember the fallen at different times of the year. Currently, most people think of Memorial Day as the unofficial start of the summer season, but we should remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice so that we can live in freedom. Take time each year to visit the graves of those who died. Explain to your children the importance of visiting those graves. Place a flag to honor those who have fallen. May we never forget the sacrifices that they have made for our freedoms.

To Release or Not—The World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland, recently met to discuss the Israel/Hamas War that is currently underway. The original resolution drafted by the nations represented did not include the actions of Hamas, the development of the situation in Gaza or the release of hostages held by Hamas. The Israeli delegation to the WHO was successful in introducing an amendment to the resolution and, with the support of 50 countries, passed it. The Palestinian delegation along with their supporters refused to vote in favor of the amendment that called for the release of hostages and are in the process of trying to revoke it. Legalized Gambling — Earlier this year during the NCAA basketball tournament, the State of North Carolina legalized online gambling. With the ease of a tap on their mobile device, many fell prey online to losing their money by betting on the games or certain aspects of the game. Now, the Catawba Indian Nation plans to cash-in on this addictive fetish of gambling. Construction plans for a casino outside of Charlotte are estimated to cost around $700 million. They plan to have the 2 million square foot building completed in 2026. The first phase of the resort will have 1,350 slot machines and electronic table games, 12 table games, and a restaurant that will have a sportsbook area with 30 self-serve kiosks for betting. The final plans for the casino will include a casino, slot machines, a parking garage, 400 room hotel and restaurants. The enterprise will line the pockets of the Catawba Nation with an estimation of over 300 million dollars a year. (The Charlotte Observer)

The Bible Back in School?—The Ten Commandments may be displayed this next school year in the Louisiana public schools. The state legislature has finalized the bill and Gov. Jeff Landry is expected to sign it into law. The bill stated that a poster-size display of the Ten Commandments must be placed in all classrooms from kindergarten to the state-funded universities level. The Republican supermajority in the legislature is passing laws ranging from tough on crime bills, migrant enforcement and anti-LGBTQ bills. The state executive branch is expected to sign each one into law. Other states that have proposed the display of the Ten Commandments include Texas, Oklahoma and Utah, but none as of yet have signed the bills into law. If these states do enact the law, expect to see many challenges to it in the courts. LA State Senator Jay Morris said that “the purpose is not solely religious to have the Ten Commandments displayed in our schools, but rather its historical significance....(it is) simply one of many documents that display the history of our country and foundation of our legal system.” Other “documents” that could be displayed are the Mayflower Compact, Declaration of Independence and Northwest Ordinance. Did You Miss the Cobwebs on the Ceiling?

Recently, it was my privilege to sit in a Sunday School class under the teaching of a saintly lady. She told how, in the week just passed, she had taken great efforts to clean her house thoroughly. She had mopped, run the sweeper, dusted, washed the curtains. She thought she had not left one inch of that house untouched and finally, tired and weary from her long hours of labor, she stretched out on her bed to rest awhile.

It was then that her eyes were turned upward and there in the ceiling corners she caught a glimpse of several little cobwebs. Just then the Lord seemed to speak to her and said: "Yes, you have been very careful to clean and care for the things on the floor level. However, while you have been so busy giving attention to things on that plane, you have forgotten to look after the loftier matters and the spiders have built their webs in the area you forgot to give attention to."

She said that she took this all as a lesson from the Lord that needed to be applied to our everyday living. And then she asked, "Do we not get so busy in the daily hustle and bustle of life, trying to make a living, trying to keep things in order on the earthly level until we neglect to give proper attention to things higher? We often do a pretty good job keeping our spiritual houses in order to a certain degree. We offer thanks at the table and may even give a little time for the reading of a few Scriptures and a few moments of private devotion. We manage to get to church when services are on and we are faithful in the giving of our means to support the work. However, often this becomes a routine thing and in the execution of those duties we fail to come apart from it all, simply stretch ourselves out before the Lord and examine the tiny corners of the loftier heights to see if there are cobwebs gathering there."

As she told this beautiful story, so applicable to most of us, my mind went back to something I heard an old soldier of the cross tell one time. He said that most of us are so earthly minded until we are no heavenly good. He said that we get so busy digging for dollars in the dirt until we forget to look up to see where our blessings are coming from and finally God has to lay us flat on our aching backs until there is only one way we can look -up! He illustrated his point by saying that we reminded him of a bunch of hogs he had observed a few days before under an acorn tree. They were so busily engaged in rooting for acorns that they never thought of looking up to see where they were coming from. These are fearsome days in which we live, days that try men's souls and it is extremely necessary that we guard every phase of our spiritual lives. If we are not careful, the more visible tasks, those at hand and on the earthly level will take up all our time. We must get still before the Lord as often as possible, simply rest as it were from it all and look up and search out the corners, the areas where it is so easy to neglect, lest cobwebs of neglect and indifference gather there and short-out our connection with the Master.

Washington and the Civil War, Southern Baptist and Black Americans, The Great Emancipator, Not a Biblical Worldview and More...

Washington started the Civil Wa r - You might say, “that doesn’t sound right..OK….but let’s think carefully. Contrary to popular opinion and what is currently being taught in the public indoctrination centers (public schools), our founders were not all entitled white slaveholders who hated the black man. In 1774, Ben Franklin and Benjamin Rush founded the Abolition Society of Pennsylvania. John Jay (first Supreme Court Chief Justice) did the same in New York. John Adams and James Madison frequently spoke against slavery. George Washington supported the freeing of slaves in the Continental Army and supported a plan for abolition. Thomas Jefferson who wrote the Declaration of Independence included language such as “all men are created equal” showing the tendencies of abolition by the founders. However, these men knew that they could not pass the Constitution (written by James Madison a Virginian) with the original language that prohibited slavery. The founders decided to tolerate slavery where it already existed. They never sanctioned slavery nor even used the word “slave” in the Constitution. By the time the Constitution was drafted, nearly every state in the Union had some legislation against slavery. In the mid 1800s, Stephen Douglas emphasized this position during his many debates with Abraham Lincoln. The Northwest Ordinance of 1787 (current Ohio, Indiana and Illinois) slavery was not allowed. By 1808, slave trade had ended in the United States. This converted slavery from a national institution to a Southern institution. This allowed slavery to grow south of the Mason/Dixon line as the institution transitioned from being a market to generational. The founders knew that if they addressed the slavery issue, it would cause a Civil War. Because of this decision to let it alone, Washington and the other fathers of this country let the future generations hash out the issue. We all know that nearly a half century later, the prolonging of their decision came to a head and the Civil War was fought. Slave or States?

Give Me My Mone y—Recently, Yale University issued a formal apology for ties that some of their founders had to slavery and announced several new initiatives for researching Yale history and making amends. The University, founded in 1701 for the training of preachers in Connecticut, boasts an endowment valued at $42.3 billion dollars. Among the alumni of Yale are 5 US Presidents, 10 Founding Fathers, 19 Supreme Court justices, many heads of state, cabinet members and governors. However, after the George Floyd murder in 2020, there was a 4 year long project entitled the Yale and Slavery Research Project. It was determined that nearly 200 people were held as slaves by the university’s founders and early leaders. Yale is not the only Ivy League University that is wanting to make amends for its “extensive entanglements with slavery.” Harvard and Brown Universities have dedicated millions of dollars to research and amends to descendants of enslaved people. Many have taken to social media to express their views on the subject…some for and some against. However, one person summed it up best by saying, “No actual slave holders said anything. And no actual slaves heard them say it.” Just think about it….in keeping this philosophy, perhaps Egypt owes Israel reparations money for enslaving their people for nearly 400 years?

SBC and Not Me —The Trustees of the Southern Baptist Convention met recently and expelled four churches from their denomination. Each church was designated as “being out of friendly cooperation” with the group. Two were removed for their alleged mismanagement of sexual abuse, one hired a woman as the senior pastor, while the last had failed to give to the SBC’s common fund for nearly 5 years. Perhaps in efforts of holding on to a conservative appearance, they are considering an amendment to their constitution that would bar churches that have hired a woman having a title of pastor, no matter their role at the church (for clarity, this would prohibit a woman for being called the Children’s Pastor). This is a follow up from what the Executive Committee for the SBC did last February when they expelled five churches, the most notable being Rick Warren’s Saddleback Church. Who knows? Maybe now they will consider Biblical principles for music, dress, and alcohol. Dr. Carol Swain, an SBC member, a black woman and legal scholar whose works recently came to the forefront after having been plagiarized by Harvard President, Claudine Gay, has repeatedly stated that she is tired of the Southern Baptist constantly apologizing to the black community...she accepts their apology...and wants them to just move on from the topic. Confusion abounds...if only they could get the right Bible, then The Way would be clear.

Which continent are you watching? - The eyes of the world are on the Middle East. Of course, where there is instability, the Chinese Government would love to step in. According to Gordon Chang, Xi Jinping is hoping that Iran will disrupt the world, with Chinese diplomats in the Middle East telling the Arabs that the US can’t protect the Red Sea. Their only hope is China. In fact, Iranian ships sought protection in the Chinese naval base a Djibouti during the recent counterstriking by the US in response to the deaths of 3 US service members during a recent Iranian drone attack. The US and Britain attacked 36 Houthi targets in Yemen, Iraq and Syria. Various Tehran-backed terror groups have entered the conflict in support for the Palestinians. Hezbollah is attacking on the Lebanese-Israeli border….Iraqi militias have fired on US forces in Iraq and Syria……Houthis are at sea firing on vessels in the Red Sea and even at Israel. By the way….China is doing the same thing in South America with the instability in Venezuela, Colombia and even Brazil. They are trying to subvert US influence around the world. The Chinese government has lent billions of dollars to the governments of South America (all of which have renounced their recognition of the Taiwanese government and only recognized the communist government in Beijing). US Congress has recognized the growing influence of China in this hemisphere and have passed measures to strengthen multilateral security cooperation, counter-narcotics efforts and create permanent trade partnerships to encourage the “reshoring” of supply chains from China to countries closer to home. That’s news to me.

Lincoln, The Great Emancipator ? - Here’s truth, in Fact---about Abraham Lincoln….He wasn’t an abolitionist…a person who not only wanted the elimination of slavery, but also the incorporation of freed enslaved people into society as equal members. In contrast, Lincoln’s speeches and writings stated that he really didn’t know what to do with the black person. In his debates with Stephen Douglas, Lincoln stated that black people should not have the same rights as white people. His position held that the South had slaves and that was a fact. He opposed voting rights for Black people and their right to serve on juries, hold office or intermarry with whites. He thought that colonization in Africa or South America was the solution for ending slavery. The Great Emancipator’s Proclamation in 1862 was a military policy….which only applied to slaves of the Confederacy, and that being, only if the Northern States won the Civil War. Lincoln believed that this political move was providing a way for the slaves of the South to rise up in rebellion against their masters. Union States that were south of the Mason/Dixon line did not free their slaves till well after the Civil War was over. In truth, it was the 13th Amendment in 1865 that ended slavery but not all States immediately ratified it. It wasn’t until 1870 that every citizen was given the right to vote no matter race and in 1920, suffrage was given to the female. Facts can certainly bring truth into clear view.

Contending for American Freedoms - Amendment 14 Section 3 says: No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability. That is in the Constitution. Think about it! - As far as J6, the Capitol riot, and all that liberal, leftist, extremists have said about the insurrection. Videos and witnesses have not been allowed to come forward to speak about the riot, i.e. the Ashley Babbit murder and the lawsuit. That information has not been publicly disclosed. What about the embedded agitators, etc., that stirred up the riot on J6. And Mr. Trump has not been tried and convicted for insurrection. We DO know that the criminal squatter in the White House is not a legitimate, elected President of the U.S. and is not even capable of carrying on that office. And what about that statement of giving aid or comfort to the enemies of this United States of America. What about all the actions, executive orders, and money that has been sent out to our enemies? Daniel said, “Oh Lord, to us belongeth confusion of face...All this evil is come upon us: yet made we not our prayer before the Lord our God that we might turn from our iniquities and understand thy truth.”

CONTENDING FOR FUNDAMENTAL CHRISTIANITY - Your loved one just died and the doctor comes in and says, “The surgery went well, and we only made three or four critical mistakes but you can be comforted that there were a possible one hundred mistakes and we only made three or four of them.” Now, that would not be a comfort and you would scream Malpractice! Many preachers have flip-flopped on Bible authority, Bible versions, Biblical separation and church music. The words they use are culturally-shaped - about like a poly-ticks words in D.C. Multiple Bible versions are used in their sermons. Words have changed to fit this trans-advanced, purpose-driven modernistic church movement. They talk Biblical Worldview, but if it is up to the multitude of ministries and ministers to pick and choose from dozens of Bibles with different words and different definitions for different changing times and situations - well, what kind of “Biblical” Worldview will that sinking sand produce? North Carolina now requires voter photo ID. Instructions state: Voters who vote by mail may be asked to include a photocopy of their ID when returning their ballot...All voters will be allowed to vote with or without a photo ID. Voters who do not have a photo ID when they vote can make sure that their vote counts by either 1) filling out a form explaining why they are unable to show ID or 2) showing their ID at their county Board of Elections office by 5pm on March 14th, the ninth day after the election. God is not the author of confusion nor is He the author of a “Biblical” Worldview that rejects Scriptural preservation, inspiration and the absolute authority of God’s Word.

AI - Artificial Intelligence is everywhere around us. If you have a smart phone, Alexa, Siri or other devices that respond to speech, your device has AI. The development of AI has been fast tracked to professions as well. In banking, education, automotive, and even the legal profession, AI is being utilized. In the legal system, AI is used to review contracts, legal research and even predict legal outcomes. The argument is that AI will “grease the wheels of justice” to increase the speed of research and decision-making of the law clerks and attorneys. In his 2023 Year End Report, Chief Justice Roberts addresses the issue of AI in the court system. He wrote: “Machines cannot fully replace key actors in court. Judges, for example, measure the sincerity of a defendant’s allocution at sentencing. Nuance matters: Much can turn on a shaking hand, a quivering voice, a change of inflection, a bead of sweat, a moment’s hesitation, a fleeting break in eye contact. And most people still trust humans more than machines to perceive and draw the right inferences from these clues. . . . I predict that human judges will be around for a while. But with equal confidence I predict that judicial work—particularly at the trial level—will be significantly affected by AI. Those changes will involve not only how judges go about doing their job, but also how they understand the role that AI plays in the cases that come before them.” States and Congress ponder regulating AI.

ChatGPT - ChatGPT is an open AI platform that is a natural language processing tool. It allows one to have a human-like conversation. This can be used by any business that has an online chat box or when you call into a business to talk with someone. ChatGPT is used by students to create essays and reports. For those who enter writing contests, ChatGPT has been banned. If it has been determined that ChatGPT was used in the writing process, the essay would be thrown out by the judging committee.

AI/CHATGPT in the Church - AI was used in a church recently to artificially create a “pastor” to preach a message. So instead of the pastor getting to know God through His Word, he is relying on a computer program to create his sermon to deliver on Sundays. There are websites readily available for a person to utilize for his “Bible study.” Instead of saying, “Oh God, please speak to me,” they are now saying, “Google, create me a sermon on Moses.”

Cashless Society - Missionaries from New Zealand report that the government there is trying to get the country to a cashless society. A cashless society is when there is no currency being printed or used, only transactions by electronic means. In 2023, the FED planned to launch the FedNow Service. This service would allow payments to be made instantly between bank accounts paving the way for a cashless society in the US. It is a way for the government to track every transaction that we make. The way has been already paved through Apple Pay, Google Pay, and even credit/debit cards. Several banks have already been brought into the FedNow Program (most of them you wouldn’t know, but JP Morgan and Wells Fargo are participating) Let me ask you, when was the last time you used cash? And if you did, did you get the right change back from the transaction? It is not only doing away with cash but is also a way of dumbing down our society. Those using cashless means will not be able to recognize currency that is printed/coined by the Federal Government.

Alphabet Soup - ASAP—As Soon As Possible; PIN—Personal Identification Number; SSN—Social Security Number---all have been common for some time now. Now it is DEI, CRT, LGBTQIA, and the list could go on. We have gone from using acronyms to make words shorter to politicize them. DEI---Diversity Equity Inclusion is just a shorter way of saying that we are going to force employees to accept the alternative lifestyle. CRT—Critical Race Theory is just a way to teach people that the color of their skin is a way to judge someone (commonly called racism) and that descendants of those who were oppressed have a right to reparations (the Bible teaches that there is only one race). LGBTQIA+--just a way for us to empathize with those who choose an “alternative” lifestyle. The Bible calls it sodomy. Companies are now hiring employees not based on their merits but based on the “wokeness” of the individual. Gone are the days of who is the best option for the job, but who makes our company look more diverse. They make it seem as if they are trying to be inclusive, but they are being exclusive through the policies and procedures given. Even Hollywood feels the need to recreate a “woke” version of the iconic Christmas film “It’s a Wonderful Life.”

CRT—Critical Race Theory was popularized during the 1990s; however, it has become more newsworthy the last couple of years. With the school boards being taken over by the left, CRT has become the mainstay of the public indoctrination centers around the country. Gone are the days of teaching that Jefferson, Franklin, Adams, Washington and Hancock were patriotic men who fought for the founding of this nation. Now children are being taught that they were white slaveholders who treated their fellow man in abhorrent ways. Visiting historic sites, the narrative is being dogmatically told how the “white” owners horribly treated their fellow man. Often we have left asking the question, How did they know this? Is it documented somewhere that this is true? While it is true that there were some cruel taskmasters, others gave testimony of God’s provision in their life. A great example of this is Phyllis Wheatley. Instead of rewriting history, we should learn from it. The key to the present is understanding the past. To destroy the past or twist the truth into an agenda driven narrative is the sure destruction of a Godly society. Proverbs 22:28-29 admonishes us to remove not the ancient landmarks.

EV—much has been said recently about Electronic Vehicles. The Biden administration has stated that by the year 2030, half of all new vehicles should be electronic. This is an effort to curb climate change (it is for our good, after all). → (Cont. from front) But with the recent winter storms, it is more apparent that EVs are not practical in cold weather states or nations. During the cold weather, EVs driving range is reduced by 70%. It also takes longer for the battery to charge during the winter. Several years ago, the City of Asheville, NC purchased five EV buses for approximately $5 million as a way to advance the climate change agenda of the City Council. However, currently 3 of the 5 buses are not in use due to several mechanical and software issues. The company that sold the buses to the city has gone bankrupt and they were the only ones who created the particular parts for their buses. The other two buses have limited ranges (approximately 78 miles) during the winter months which is causing stress on the rest of the fleet. The cost of maintenance of these buses is astonishing as well, with nearly $250k being spent. In the short EVs didn’t rule the day. By the way, the city spent $550k for biodiesel buses since the purchase of the EV buses.

Beware church! Frauds and Pseudos are creeping into the church. Jesus asked Peter and the disciples, but whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. There is a play on words intentionally. Peter is the pétros meaning small rock; whereas the Rock, Jesus Christ, is petra meaning a great rock, the foundational stone, the anointed one. The “Advance Church Movement” transitions churches away from the King James Bible and the pure, preserved, powerful Word of God, the source, the inspired Word of God. They embrace dynamic equivalence. They believe they can change the Word of God, the wording, to fit today’s culture and thinking. This same thinking calls for changing our U.S. Constitution in this revisionist manner. They want to change everything foundational - the anointed of God - the absolutes of God. Watch out for this fraud! Election fraud is another example. Lawsuits against states forcing the cleansing of voter roles. Investigations by Heritage Foundation, Rasmussen Reports, Judicial Watch, Heartland Institute, and other guilty pleas and whistleblower testimonies call into question whether free and lawful elections can ever happen again in America. Note that many who said there was no voter fraud, also said there was no border crisis. A Fraud! Just as this “Advance Church Movement” is not an advance but a pseudo, fraud and has crept into our churches.

Conclusion: When I was in 6th grade, my family moved from New Hampshire to tidewater Virginia. During the winter season, the philosophy on how to deal with the snow was drastically different. In NH, the snowplows were out pushing the snow and salting the roads ensuring that they were safe for travel. In VA, the thought was that God brought it and He will take it away. On that note, are you out plowing and salting this world for Christ, preparing for His return, or are you sitting idly by waiting for His return? Contend!

I Am Sick

There are those that claim that ours is a sick society, that our government is sick, that our country is sick, that we are rich. Maybe they're right. I submit that I am sick. I am sick of having policemen ridiculed and called pigs, while cop killers are hailed as some kind of folk heroes. I am sick of being told that religion is the opiate of the people, but that marijuana should be legalized. I am sick of commentators and the columnist canonizing anarchists, revolutionist, and criminal rapists but condemning law enforcement when such criminals are brought to justice. I am sick of being told that pornography is the right of a free press. That freedom of the press does not include being able to read the Bible on the school grounds. I am sick of paying more and more taxes to build schools when faculty members encourage students to either tear them down or burn them.

I am sick of Supreme Court decisions which turn criminals loose on society while other decisions try to take away my means for protecting my home and my family. And I am sick of pot smoking entertainers who deluge me with their condemnation of my moral standards on late night television. And I am sick of being told that policemen are made dogs and should not have guns and that criminals who use guns to rob, maim and murder should be understood and helped back to society.

I am sick of riots, marches, protests, sick of hearing the same phrases, the same slogans, the cries of people who must chant the same thing, like zombies, because they haven't the capacity for verbalizing thought. And I am sick of those who say I owe them this or that because of the sins of my forefathers when I have looked down both ends of a gun barrel to defend their rights, their liberties, and their families.

I am sick of cynical attitudes towards patriotism. I am sick of politicians with no backbone. I am sick of the permissiveness, sick of the dirty, the foul mouthed, the unwashed, sick of the decline of personal honesty, and human sincerity. Most of all though, I am sick of being told that I'm sick and that my country's sick when we have the greatest nation that man has ever brought forth. Yes, I may be sick but if I'm only sick, I can get well. I can help my society get well and my country get well. Take note all of you. You will not find me throwing a rock or a bomb, you will not find me under a placard. You will not see me take to the streets, but you will find me at work, paying taxes in the community where I live. And you will find me contributing my time, money and personal interest toward helping churches, hospitals and other establishments which have shown the true spirit of this countries determination to ease pain, suffering, eliminate hunger and generate brotherhood. But most of all, you will find me at the polls. There, if you will listen, you can hear the thunder of the common man. There all of us can cast our votes for an America where people can walk the streets without fear.

And may I add, yes, America has her faults, but I have been in 137 other foreign lands, and I would not trade the good old U.S.A. for all the others combined. In many of the foreign ones I have visited, I was the envy of the people because I had had the privilege of being born an American. In some of them I saw the people lined up trying to get visas to get out of their country, but America is the only one in the world that people are lined up trying to get in. I still say, "AMERICA! LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT."
