The Prophetic Clock Is Ticking
Why Believers Must Stand Steadfast and Unmoveable

There are times when the circumstances surrounding us seem to change almost overnight. Political fortunes shift, financial markets rise and fall, governments make decisions that affect our freedoms, and the moral foundations of society continue to erode. Voices of deception grow louder, darkness is increasingly called light, and the enemies of biblical truth seem to gain influence.
But there is something the child of God must never forget: Our confidence is not in the government, the economy, the political system, or the opinions of men. Our confidence is in the Lord Jesus Christ.
The psalmist declared, "The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage" (Psalm 16:6). God has established boundaries, drawn lines, and given an inheritance. We do need borders. We do need boundaries. The Bible speaks about those lines and the inheritance that is drawn by God for us.
God has blessed His people with a goodly heritage. He has saved our souls, given us eternal life, and provided blessings that cannot be measured by the world's standards. We have a wonderful Saviour, the promises of His Word, and an eternal inheritance anchored in Jehovah..
And because our lives are anchored in Him, we can declare with confidence: I shall not be moved.
A Goodly Heritage and God-Given Boundaries
We must recognize that the lines are fallen unto us in pleasant places. Our inheritance is not something that mankind has created or something that governments can ultimately control. The Lord is the giver of our blessings, and He is the One who establishes our inheritance.
We do need borders. We do need boundaries. That principle is not contrary to Scripture. Throughout the Bible, God established boundaries for nations, families, and individuals. There is a distinction between what belongs to one and what belongs to another. There is an inheritance, and there are lines that define it.
The same is true spiritually. The child of God must understand where he stands and what he believes. We cannot allow the world to continually move the boundaries of biblical truth. We cannot permit popular opinion to determine what is right and wrong. God's Word must remain our authority.
The psalmist also declared:
"I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved." (Psalm 16:8)
What a wonderful promise! Our stability comes from keeping the Lord before us. When our eyes are fixed upon Him, the changing circumstances of this world do not have to move us.
We can bless the Lord for His goodness, for the salvation of our souls, for our families, and for the privilege of serving Him. These are blessings that the world cannot give and cannot take away.
Our Voice and Our Vote Still Matter
There are those who have concluded that their voice and their vote do not matter. Some believe the political process is so corrupt or so hopelessly rigged that there is no reason to participate. Others have simply decided that they cannot make a difference.
But I still believe it matters.
It matters to our constitutional rights and freedoms. It matters that we go to the polls and biblically vote as God would direct our hearts. It matters what we stand for and what we support.
I will vote for people who themselves believe that life is sacred and precious, that a baby's life is of eternal worth, and that we are one nation under God. I will vote for those who recognize the importance of our God-given liberties and the principles upon which this nation was founded.
We must not confuse the world's changing political language with biblical truth. The Christian's responsibility is not to follow the latest cultural movement or to surrender convictions because of political pressure. We must stand for God's truth.
And even if our government should refuse God, reject God, and begin persecuting Christians, we must remember that our ultimate accountability is to the Lord.
I will stand before God, not government, and give account of my life, my opportunities, and my choices. Our responsibility is to cast our voice and vote with God and His Holy Book.
The Apostle Paul gave this instruction:
"I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty." (1 Timothy 2:1–2)
Notice that we are commanded to pray for those in authority. We must pray for our leaders, regardless of whether we agree with their decisions. We must seek God's will and leave the results in His hands.
Our voice matters. Our vote matters. Our prayers matter. And our responsibility to stand for righteousness does not disappear when the political circumstances become difficult.
The Lot Is Cast, but the Whole Disposing Thereof Is of the Lord
Proverbs 16:33 gives us an important reminder concerning the sovereignty of God:
"The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof is of the LORD."
The casting of lots was an ancient practice. A piece of colored wood or a stone could be cast into a receptacle to indicate a decision. Yet Scripture makes it clear that even when men cast lots, the ultimate outcome remains under the authority of God.
Consider the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Matthew 27:35 records that the soldiers parted His garments, casting lots. This was not some unexpected event outside the knowledge of God. It was the fulfillment of Bible prophecy recorded in Psalm 22, a prophecy given approximately one thousand years earlier.
What men did at Calvary was already known to God. The soldiers cast lots, but the Lord was fulfilling His Word.
We also find the casting of lots in Acts 1:26, when the disciples sought to determine who would take the place of Judas among the apostles. After prayer, they gave forth their lots, and the lot fell upon Matthias, and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.
With the coming of the indwelling Holy Spirit, the church has the guidance of God dwelling within believers. We must recognize His presence and pray that He will guide us into all truth.
Even today, we vote on matters of business in our families, churches, and congregations. We pray, we voice our convictions, and we vote. But we must never forget that the ultimate disposing of every matter belongs to the Lord.
We must pray that God's will be done. We must take our responsibility seriously, and we must trust the sovereignty of God over the outcome.
It Is Not the Economy, but Spiritual Wickedness in High Places
There is much discussion about the economy. The stock market rises and falls. Financial markets fluctuate, and people become concerned when their investments lose value. The cost of living is high, and the price of gasoline and everyday necessities affects families across the nation.
But is it really the economy that is our greatest problem?
It is not the economy, stupid. It is spiritual wickedness in high places!
The Apostle Paul reminds us that our struggle is greater than what we see on the surface:
"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." (Ephesians 6:12)
This is a spiritual battle. It is a hierarchy of principalities and powers, a darkness that runs rampant in our nation, with its crosshairs set on God's people.
No, the ultimate battle is not simply about the House of Representatives, the Senate, or the White House. It concerns your house, my house, and the church house. The rulers of darkness seek to destroy the very foundations upon which our homes, churches, and nation should stand.
We must recognize the spiritual nature of the conflict. Political developments and cultural changes may be visible expressions of a much deeper battle. The enemy would love to see God's people distracted, discouraged, divided, and silent.
But we must not be ignorant of his devices. We must remain spiritually alert, grounded in Scripture, and faithful to the Lord.
The Bread of Life and the Famine in Our Land
There is a particular reason the spiritual battle concerns the very foundation of our homes and churches. It is a battle over the Lord Jesus Christ, the Bread of Life.
Jesus declared in John 6:35:
"And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst."
When Jesus made this declaration, the Jewish leaders were outraged. His words brought their minds back to Abraham, back to Moses, and to the great declaration of God: "I AM THAT I AM" (Exodus 3:14).
Jesus was declaring His deity. He is the eternally existent One, the true and living God, the Creator and Sustainer of life.
He is the Bread of Life.
We use the word bread in many ways. We speak of earning our bread, the breadwinner of the family, and even being wealthy and rolling in dough. Bread has long been associated with the necessities of life and the provision that sustains us.
But there is a famine far more serious than an economic shortage. There is a famine in our land, and there is a famine in our churches.
For generations, this nation has recognized the importance of God's Word. Our government and our history have included public acknowledgment of the Scriptures and the value of printing and distributing the Bible. Yet the very Word of God that provides spiritual nourishment is increasingly being displaced.
Modernist Bibles are finding their way into churches and Christian homes. Churches are moving away from the authority of Scripture. Even the foundations of biblical morality are being challenged and abandoned.
People may have plenty of material possessions and still be starving spiritually.
Souls are dying and going to an eternal devil's hell. They are starving to death. They need the Bread of Life. They need the living water that only Jesus Christ can provide.
The Bread of Life was bought and paid for at a very high price: the precious blood of Jesus Christ.
The answer to spiritual famine is not another political program, another financial strategy, or another cultural movement. The answer is Jesus Christ and the unchanging truth of His Word.
The World Measures Influence, but God Measures Faithfulness
We live in a world fascinated by numbers, followers, rankings, and influence. Public figures are measured by their reach across digital platforms. Individuals and organizations are ranked according to the number of people who follow them.
Some personalities command tens of millions of followers. World leaders have audiences numbering in the hundreds of millions. Churches and religious organizations are also evaluated by their reach and visibility.
These rankings demonstrate how much influence certain individuals and organizations can exercise across the world.
But for the born-again, Bible-believing child of God, there is a much greater reality to consider.
The Lord is coming soon!
The world's measurements of influence are temporary. The number of followers a person possesses, the political power he exercises, and the public recognition he receives will not determine his standing before God.
The question is not simply who has the greatest platform or the largest following. The question is whether we are faithful to the Lord Jesus Christ and His Word.
The Antichrist may be ready to step onto the political, religious, and global stage. The prophetic clock is moving toward the fulfillment of God's purposes. We may be approaching the final moments before the Lord calls His people home.
The world may be watching its leaders, its markets, and its influencers, but the Christian must keep his eyes on the Lord Jesus Christ.
We are not waiting for a political personality to deliver us. We are looking for the coming of our Saviour.
Steadfast, Unmovable, Always Abounding
How should the child of God respond when the world is changing, spiritual wickedness is increasing, and the foundations of society are being challenged?
We should be steadfast and unmovable.
There is an old hymn that declares, "I shall not be moved." Its words remind us that our confidence must be anchored in the Lord. King Jesus is our Captain. Even if friends forsake us, even if the world deceives us, and even if circumstances become difficult, we must not be moved from our biblical convictions.
The Apostle Paul gives us this wonderful instruction in 1 Corinthians 15:57–58:
"But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord."
There it is: steadfast, unmovable.
Notice that the passage begins with victory. Our victory is through our Lord Jesus Christ. We are not told to find our confidence in our own strength, our political influence, or our ability to control the circumstances around us.
Thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory!
And then comes the instruction: Be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord.
We must keep our minds on the work of the Lord and our eyes fixed upon Jesus Christ, the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).
We must continue doing what God has called us to do. We must proclaim the Gospel, stand for biblical truth, strengthen our families, remain faithful in our churches, and shine as lights in a dark world.
Why?
"Forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord."
Do you know it? Do you believe it?
Your labour is not in vain in the Lord. Every prayer, every act of faithfulness, every Gospel witness, and every stand for righteousness matters when it is done for the glory of God.
The world may change. Governments may change. Financial markets may rise and fall. People may forsake us, and the darkness may grow more visible. But the Word of God has not changed, the promises of God have not failed, and the victory of Jesus Christ is certain.
Luke 21:28:
"And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh."
